gt_ltd
Maybe eventually people will realize they do not need SUVs as they NEVER go offroad or do anything else that they were originally designed for. Maybe wagons will be mainstream oneday?? Maybe American will replace coffee with tea oneday? This Space For Rent
gt_ltd
What I do like, is that the material on the transmission console near the cup holders looks better than the smooth shiny plastic we have that is easily scratched. some people in japan thought the new material feels cheap... some said SOJ cut corners.. i wonder what other manufactures use.. tantal
Hey, give me a 280+ HP, 6MT, sport suspension Outback that is a little lower than the std Outback yet better clearance than the LegGT, without the body clad and I will be trading my 05 LegGT in for an Outback in MY08. Subaru can offer the std Crok Dundee Outback and a sport Outback so they can drop the Legacy wagons. Money they save buy eliminating the Leg Wagon line should help them afford to offer a Dynamite OB sport wagon and a beefed up Crok Dunde wagon. Instead of offering lots of bland, give the market some spice, some interest, some niche identity and advantage. No way your "sport" outback, with higher ground clearance, can touch the LGT. There's no substitute for having a low-slung car - better aero, lower COG, much better balance, flatter cornering. Not to mention those very high profile tires on outbacks - that kills turn in, response, and cornering speed. yuk. No thanks. If you were in charge of SOA, you'd lose a customer. Outbacks suck as performance cars. They SUCK. LOL hope noone takes this personally

tantal
Another step backwards if true. True, on one hand. You have to understand that manufacturers (in all industries) are getting hit on all sides this year - higher oil means higher energy and raws costs, people's salaries/wages never go down, customers demand competetive pricing, all auto manufacturers are raising thier respective bars, so competition is better. Etc, Etc. Where would you rather them take the cost out? Subaru is making the best interiors they have made in, oh, forever, IMO, and as long as the cheaper materials don't detract from the look/feel of the interior too much, I for one don't mind. That said, I'd have to see it to have an opinion. Again, I ask the question, are there really any cars that compete with the LGT wagon for price, performance, handling, and styling, inside and out? Not in my opinion. Audis are fat and small, the bmw 3 is small and it's awd system adds suspension height, the 5 is the best of all, but it's twice as much, and no other of the pretender wagons offer manuals, or they are fwd. Once again, I'll say that I'm very happy to have found my 05, even if it is the wrong color =\
MtnSub
Tantal, relax, I am not in charge of SOA/SOJ or FHI. I agree with you completely about no substitute for a lower slung car. Talk about tires, the LegGT came with Suzuki Reo tires. First thing I did, week one, was put low profile, hi-perf Toyo 18s on my LegGT/MT wagon and what a difference. My comment was based on three factors. 1. What if it becomes true that Subaru drops wagon from SOA Legacy. 2. Subaru has already dropped the MT for LegGT wagons. Talk about reduced performance and control, only choice today is AT push and wait button, not exactly my idea of a performance car. Turbo and AT reduce effectiveness of both systems. You have already lost the LegGT sport wagon IMHO. 3. Personally, I will be spending much more time, weeks per stay, in the Sierra Nevada Mtns after this summer and would like a bit more clearance than my LegGT has, but if Subaru gave us a HOT, upgraded MT LegGT wagon, I would take it over OBXT in a heartbeat. Regarding other posts on interiors: My LegGT leather seats look as good today as they did 18 months ago and I still like them as much as my BMW seats, for my 5'9", 175lb body and bad lower back. Audi may look beautiful inside or out, but I hate driving or owning them. Subaru has the most important part of equation right IMO. Yes I hope they improve their interior materials, but I hope they keep the very simple, driver/pilot oriented dash/controls vs trend towards amusement park controls and gadgets. LegGT seats and steering wheel are great. I am a very very happy convert to Subaru from BMW3/AWD wagon (under powered), but without a MT Sport Wagon, Subaru does not offer a wagon today, that will get me to be a repeat customer in MY08. SuperhawkLGT
Do the sedans have the same round style internal tailights like the wagoon? If so Round seems to be a theme, cupholders, gauges, tailights, headlights, shifter trim, did I miss anything?
IwannaSportSedan
Even the high beam headlights are round now... intereschtingk. I don't think the new body details and interior are that horrible, but not really a measureable improvement over current. Like the new headlight shapes, but not the upswept indicators, nor the mirror signals. Like the new tail lights, but the chrome stripe on the wagon is iffy. Like the paddles and the horizontal silver trim on the dash. REALLY like the black console. Don't really like the gaping holes in the console that can't be closed. Cupholders are good when you need them but I like them to close when you don't. Usually they get dusty and grungy inside between detailing sessions. Hate the new wheels, though. switching back and forth between this thread and the new 07 USDM thread, I am thinking the USDM wheels are similar but not the same. The JDM Legacy wheels seem to have wheels with convex shaped spokes, and a matte aluminum finish. The USDM new wheels seem to be the same overall design, with 6 concave spokes, with a more machined-look finish. Both look like they belong on an SUV. Or a Camry. MtnSub
SOA, stop beating the Legacy with an ugly stick and taking out options. We get it. You don't want to sell Legacy in NorAm and you especially do not want to sell LegGT wagons. Mabybe SOA wants to focus on the bargin basic Legacy and that is their market?? After so many good non-SOA bumpers seen in pictures, they make Legacy with big fat rounded bumper that looks more like the OB???. I like my 05 cup holders that can be covered. The new metalic wings on dash look plastic, but nice. OB does not need to look good for 99.8% of buyers. In fact, most OB buyers like the sturdy pair of shoes styling and Subaru sure is delivering that. Guess you could say these pictures sure don't give much hope. I sure love my 05 LegGT wagon. It will go down in Subaru history as a genetic mutation.

Sponge
ME LIKEY!!!! I see what my future holds... Spec B has the mesh grill and the rest of the line has the V grill I take it...not really brushed up on my Japenese. So their GT turbo is a 2.0 and I assume the 3.0 is the V6. How do their trim level/engine levels breakdown? Did anyone notice the rear vents on the back bumper of the GT? Lastly THEY ARE OFFERING THE SLATE CHARCOAL COLOR!!!! that is my favorite color on the WRX/Impreza... I can't wait for 08! My vB Gallery
