Cargo fan: pets (mainly dogs). Many Legacy wagon owners in Japan bought a wagon just so they have somewhere to put the dog when travelling.

Middle button: Power folding mirrors. Something that is absolutely necessary in Tokyo because of the size of parking lots.

Cheers,

repsonse.jp claims body/chassis of refreshed Legacy has been reinforced, mainly in the area where mainframe and upper frame are adjoined. Also, rigidity of sidesill and front suspension area has increased.

The goal, according to Subaru engineer, is to increase steering response and stability.

i am starting to like the new round shifter.

There are elements of the update that are growing on me. The shifter surround doesn't seem quite so bad anymore. But I still hate the SI-drive knob and just about everything related to it (hate that little display too) and the fact that the cupholders can't be covered up anymore. And the way the radio and HVAC have been uglified. And I dislike most of the new gauge styles. The 05/06 LGT electroluminescent gauges are just about perfect.

you never know what the usdm models will be like until they are out.

i, on the other hand, will have to live with those giant cup holders since i am moving to asia next month. i just hope STi will release a S402. :icon_twis

That's true. The problem is, we already know what they've done to the USDM MY2007, and it includes the ugly stereo and SI-drive.

I like the color of the center console and radio trim, but not that big round hole for the shifter.

I popped wood after going through this entire thread. I MUST/WILL trade for a '08 turbo wagon (always wanted the wagon, i just dont like the way it looks now as is) in all black with those sexy new exterior and interior changes. Thank you Subaru!

One thing I notice about the 08, is that the center arm rest is not really useable. It is tucked back between the teo front seats, so unless it slides forward somehow, I so not really see how you use it apart from storage.

The SI dial looks like a gimmick to me. Afterall, once you have found your desired setting how often are you going to change it. They should move the cup holders forward - which afterall are going to get used a lot, and extend the center arm rest so that it is actually usable. Then move the SI dial to a location where after you have played with it a little you can forget about it.

Paddleshift

2.0GT & 2.0GT spec.B (MT) = 280ps@6400 / 343Nm@2400

(AT) = 260ps@6000 / 343Nm@2000

3.0R & 3.0R spec.B = 250ps@6600 / 304Nm@4200

2.0R (MT) = 190ps@7100 / 196Nm@4400

2.0R (AT) = 180ps@6800 / 196Nm@4400

2.0i = 140ps@5600 / 186Nm@4400

Both spec.B's get same 6spd ratios.

Subaru Japan expects sales of 5,000/month for the Legacy line.

280PS is equivalent to 276 hp...

It does remember me of the Mitsu Galant VR4!!! heheheheh

5000 a month in Japan... Legacy does that in the US, as long as you count the 4/5ths share of Outbacks! :D

This pic is great. I LOVE the inset red ring. very cool. I hope the US version has this, but I am doubting it from pictures in other threads.

click the buttons at the bottom to see videos of the cars in motion, interior, exterior, SI Drive

*those Tach shots have to be fake... Intelligent drive showed 100mph at 2k RPMS!

Thanks for the link to the video. Regarding the tach shots, if you are talking about the SI Drive video, the only tach I saw was 3.5krpm at 130kph. Maybe I missed something.

Are you sure that that wasn't 100 KPH???

That would only be 62mph. 2krpms might be a little low for a manual trans, but probably not too far off on a 5EAT.
