Yes, I had a bad experience. But what you're doing makes perfect sense. You also got to install the inlet with the manifold off which I'm sure makes all the difference in the world.

Play on playa!

I hated my gimmick with a royal passion so I got rid of it eventually. It did the job but it really isnt any better then the stock inlet, I would go with an inlet specific to the legacy like SAMCO, AVO, or even PERRIN. I have a SAMCO inlet now that was made for the 08+ WRX and I love it! Perfect fitment and zero issues

Seems to fit good as of now. I'm sure it was only possible because we removed the intake manifold first but i can see how it would be a giant pain without removing the manifold. But i would like to someday maybe make all silicon connections one brand but thats not very high on the to do list.

I want to eventually fabricate a cool inlet for him. We had to jump through hoops because of the inlet, intake manifold and time. In the end though its all good. We will see how it does up here at 6000 feet, if I can break 400whp with it then it meets our goals. If it collapses it gets ripped out. Thanks for the input though, this is the first gimmick intake I have messed with.

Here are those logs. First one is the startup, second is the first boost it saw about 40 minutes later after a heat cycle.

Glad to see you got it installed and running ok! Cant wait to see the dyno numbers. I'll ask again but how did you do the alternator and ac pump black?

My friend is just very good at the small things not sure what his method was

Only thing I would have changed is that POS inlet. Gimmick next to Cosworth makes me want to vomit.

Yeah... it looks a bit rediculous. If nothing else just wrap the inlet skillfully in heavy vinyl electrical tape and hide the Gimmick completely.

I think if you had a black inlet, compressor outlet coupler and black coolant hoses this engine bay would look phenominally better.

However I would also say that having this engine/suspension build going through a 5 speed is analogous with having a red pos Gimmick inlet on a black cosworth motor.

Ducking sick ride though.

Did some long 4th and 5th gear pulls up the grades to Donner Summit today. At 20 psi the car is very strong.

Any idea what kind of hp your making?

I'm curious about your clutch decision, the Clutchmasters fx350 clutch/flywheel.

I need to pull the trigger on a new clutch asap and I'm around 380hp...

beautiful ride!

btw did your shortblock come from Cosworth in a cool plastic box?

Came in a cardboard box inside of another cardboard box with this super dense packing foam formed perfectly around each section not sure on the specs of the clutchmasters but its the heaviest solid non segmented plate they make and it's very comfortable on the street and we are guessing around 450 crank hp based on weight x time x distance but won't know for sure till dyno day in a few weeks

I'm thrilled with my new CM FX350. Glad to hear it's holding that kind of power well! It's got super street friendly pedal feel, and I had a feeling it would hold any future power goals I have. I'll be watching to see the numbers you put down and how it holds up

Congratulations getting your car on the street. Looks awesome, pretty much exactly how I would want my wagon to look if I had one. Nice to see you made the go bits as nice / nicer than the show bits.
