stock brakes are crap and STI ones are way better than our Stock brakes. Alcon are not that great. Stop Tech are much better.

U have got to be kidding me by saying some Chinese made stop techs are better than Alcon.....

Very well documented! Get some wider wheels and tires on there ;)

Alright incoming hate.

Get that 68hta out of there right now. Get into something rotated that'll make that Cos-worth it (pun intended :D). Something along the lines of a Borg EFR!

Ohlins look awful pretty. I wouldn't let that viewpoint of JRZ's, Motons, and Penskes affect your beliefs though. There's a reason 95% of Grand Am cars run Penskes, AST 5xxx or JRZ's. The car I codrive for scca solo has JRZ single adjustables and wow do they handle great.

6 Speed NOW. Sell a kidney if you have to!

Why big brakes? The stock brakes with rotors and pads have shown to be sufficient. STi brembo's are hardly better. If it's the bling factor, then by all means, carry on.

Keep updating this!

Nothing against the Motons and Penske and jrz it's just those are pure race coilovers if I were to run them on the street they would need a rebuild before the ohlins and are a bit stiffer ride. I was able to talk to beau at PSI out of Sonoma raceway and they sell all of the above brands and are the only licensed dealer in the world that ohlins has make other applications and I was in there shop and got to see all te different styles and he said for the street the ohlins dfv are amazing for uneven road surfaces and I'm gonna be doing more dd than track days . I just moved back to update ny for the summer and the drive across the country was handled very well by the ohlins. Super smooth and predictable.

And def plan on a different turbo route but gotta keep on saving for that come this winter i will be doing some more serious projects :) and as far as the brakes go i kinda just want them as opposed to need them :)

My 2 cents on the little discussion that just happened...

First off, Stop Tech is, always will be, always has been a knock off Brembo. I am friends with the owner of stop tech, he use to drive for my old race team (STaSIS WCTC), guess what we ran on the car?

ALCON with stop tech stickers over the calipers! Dino isnt dumb, he wanted to win, he is a businessman and the stop tech way is a profitable one, not a victorious one.

As for boiling fluid and running cool, the alcon and brembo metallurgy is the best, alcons rotors flow air better in my opinion and testing backs that up. many teams that run brembo race components run alcon rotor rings.

as for the damper talk, I dont like arguments so I will just tell you whats what. Ohlins leads the way, everyone else is a year or two behind them at any given time. The other companies ALL sit around and see what Ohlins does and then try to emulate that for next season. Even some of the penske race teams run them... Moton, JRZ, AST... please... look they are good, very good, to the average person they will seem like the best, but they arent the best because Ohlins is. Their R&D is simply untouchable. Their metallurgy is untouchable, their coatings are better, their virgin rubber stocks are purer, their proprietary oil is better, i can go on and on.

I understand public perception has a lot to do with marketing, you ever want to know the truth, go race professionally, handle the parts, rebuild them in the pits, see what fails and what doesnt. I am not a race car driver, I am a race car engineer. Hope that helps.

Anyway, back to the car, it just did like 4000 miles after i finished it, i get to do my mechanical happy dance and now i can tune him on better fuel. Successful project is a success.

Stoptechs are more rigid than the normal OEM spec Brembo's. You have to go up to Brembo's race product to get a better caliper than Stoptech.

Agreed. you are speaking OEM spec brembo vs after market spec stop tech though.

brembo has a catalog to choose from so to speak for the manufactures. subaru gets whats pretty good and fairly affordable because thats their market.

brembo "GT" kits are what you generally see cars running on the street and hpde type track use, a big step up for mixed use cars, but personally i would run alcon mono bloc street setups over that because they are the same money with better materials. brembo has more pad choices though. trade offs.

when we get to true "racing application stuff they both are in the money is no object realm and both are amazing systems

More brake porn...I "liked" the brembo page on facebook just to get my daily dose of brake porn.

So the carbon fiber part at the top of the caliper is for cooling?

And so those fit the 18x8 LGT wheels, right?
