mustangendsley
I have heard about flyin miata doing those 450hp v8 swaps, this is too cool. I live by them and have raced a v8 Miata and it is fun fun fun. I also race my 05 gt with the miata guys, they are a good groupe of guys and know there stuff. I would rather do that then stuff one in a gt legy, Much cheaper and going to be much more fun driving it.

btlegacy
The miata engine is the real one and in its final position. The engine may look high from the picture but we have placed it as low as possible to fit all other components and moved it as far back as possible 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

CasopoliS
out of curiosity, what does it cost someone to put a v8 in a Miata? Roughly? What I mean is... someone drops off a Miata and says "put a v8 in this please". Of course the cost of the motor can vary based on what you use and where you get it. I only ask because its not like this is something most shops have a familiarity with.
frank_ster
^ probably between 2-8 K depending on the engine you want or if your supplying your own engine. also depends if you want auto or mt .. and the rear differential changed. Now that's thinking out of the boxer! fyi all 05 + legacy's have built in code reader
btlegacy
The current cost for this Miata is around $4200. Keep in mind there is no labor cost in there and we fabricated almost all of the custom parts. If you were to drop off the car at Flying Miata and have it built with similar parts and include everything that we have (Getrag LSD, Moser Axles, AC, PS, etc.) it would cost around $18-20k or $24-25k with a bigger motor A basic BossFrog conversion kit is $4250. This includes subframe, transmission mount, diff mount, axles, driveshaft, clutch master, headers, and rack mount. You would still have to add engine, transmission, diff, electronics, fuel system, etc on top of this cost plus labor 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

Max Capacity
Those are the same ones I use, I swiped a bag of 50 from work  For some reason, I have to dig through my pile of them to find a right glove most of the time. I use them in pairs, throw them back on the shelf. It happened again over the weekend. Walk in the shed, go to find pair, pick up 3 or 4 lefts before I find a right glove. Same thing happens on the seat of the pick up truck... seems the pile is mainly left gloves. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. BAC5.2
Hehe good reminder, I have been trying to find Outback parts to modify some of the piece as that is the height that the subframe sits now but I may end up having to but new. For now, my goal is to get it running so I can fine tune it and not have any dangerous bump steer. After that point, I am going to re-do the whole suspension and try to make it optimal for the RWD setup Shoot me a PM if you decide to go through suspension optimization. I'd be happy to help you out. Max Capacity
On the site you'll find a whole slection of Hyflex gloves. The 11-500's I'll wear when using the chainsaw and doing yard work. I'll wear them for most of the day, even driving to the dump. The 11-624 and 11-800's I have been able to pick up small washers and put them on the clamp for the waste gate. You can reach in your pocket or wallet and get things out. They breath well so your hands don't sweat. http://www.ansellpro.com/hyflex/ 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. Daniels
We made a lot of progress on the Miata. The engine is in the car and we are finishing up the accessories. The harness is 80% complete and we hope to finish it up by the weekend and get it started. We are going to complete the Subframe for the Legacy this week and start on the transmission mounting. Here are a few pics of the Miata http://imageshack.us/a/img407/6404/accessoriesn.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img715/3053/motorinfinal.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img836/7927/frontlowview.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img545/4924/onwheels.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img341/1968/ypipeincar.jpg my pops told me that it only ads a small amount of weight and the engine in set back a few inches further the the ratios are spot on. Sooooo sick!
PrimeRib
How much ballast do you have to put in the rear of the Miata? I can imagine that the V8 would throw off the Miatas wonderful balance.

btlegacy
The weight will go up a bit once AC and a few other items are added but the car should handle just the same since we added some weight in the back with the bigger diff and beefier axles 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
