btlegacy
Glad to hear someone else is going down my path. It takes a lot of work and planning but it is going to be worth it to have something different. Let me know if I can offer any advice I am in the early stages of this swap myself, and by early stages I mean still parting out the lgt drivetrain to pay for it. lol But its nice to have your build thread to go off of and Im sure once i get deeper into it ill be pming you for help. Great progress so far and I cant wait to see your finished product! 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
btlegacy
All welding on the subframe is finished up. Need to clean it up and shoot it with some paint so I can put it in the car. Once the rack is back in, we are going to tow it to my new shop up and hopefully drop the motor in and get started on the trans mount. Will post some pics once subframe is painted 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

btlegacy
The subframe is all painted and I got it in the car so that we can hook up the steering to tow the car to the new shop. Need to add one more piece on the passenger side mount of the rack to balance it out but it is pretty much done. Since the rack was dropped the linkage no longer reaches and you will see in the pic below how much it will need to be extended. http://imageshack.us/a/img69/9136/subframe5.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img268/7009/subframe6.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img4/9717/subframe7.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img809/9222/subframe9.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img32/8894/subframe8.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img607/9333/rackb.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img24/7499/subframe10.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img812/4325/subframeconn.jpg http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/79/racked.jpg 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

frank_ster
humm summit isn't showing me back that far in time .. just get what ever fits in. do you need to move the radiators forward ? if not you could probably get away with the stock one. Btanzer
I was kind of skeptical when I saw the title but it looks like you're doing a very nice job with this. Excited to see what happens with it
btlegacy
Dropped the mockup engine with oil pan and headers into the car. Oil pan fits beautifully and has great access. We used some premade headers and the passenger side fits great. The drivers side will need to be changed out in order to clear the steering column. http://imageshack.us/a/img32/2696/photo6medium.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img844/6342/photo3medium.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img593/9491/photo4medium.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img59/4461/photo2medium.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img705/175/photo1mediump.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img694/2007/photomediumw.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img41/3443/photo5medium.jpg 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
frank_ster
have you seen v8 swap into s-10 pick up? the headders wrap around the steering shaft! but doesn't look like it applies to you tho. btlegacy
Though about using the S10 headers but it still wouldn't give us enough space so the drivers side is going to have to be custom made 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

btlegacy
We made some more progress on the Legacy. We towed it over to the new shop and continued work on it. We got the engine and transmission in the car and with the way the subframe is designed we were able to put them inside the car as one piece. We clearanced the tunner a little bit and built the rear mount. Next step is to clearance a few more sections of the tunnel where we might have rubbing and build the shifter. You can also see the ride height with the motor and trans in the car. This is on Tein H-Tech springs http://imageshack.us/a/img9/3460/photo2sx.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img827/6341/photo1uf.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img16/1693/photopul.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img21/1637/photo1yz.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img850/4056/photo2mns.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img546/2535/photo3tro.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img841/4886/photo4mc.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img109/4130/photo5ih.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img692/9673/photo6add.jpg More Pics http://imageshack.us/a/img831/9973/photo7ck.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img10/8983/photo8dc.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img29/8072/photo10lx.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img841/6745/photo11kk.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img19/9657/photo12wg.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img827/8008/photo13kz.jpg 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
SCHM1AN
I'll ask what everybody here is thinking: Now that you have the drawings and parts mocked up, how much would you charge for a V8 install?
