BAC5.2
Argh, I had an idea for a feature, but I can't remember what it was. Hopefully I'll remember soon! Drew888
I know...nitpicking but no one mentioned the lack of a flush fit. Is the plexiglass still perfectly flat? It would be nice if it had a slight bend to it especially at the bottom. I'm still in either way ... HAhahaha, disregard the above because it really doesn't matter. I've been gone from this thread for a while and just read through it all again. HOLY CRAPNUGGETS!!! Simply incredible.... someone needs to name their first born after you (sorry I'm done with the having kids thing)! Drew888
lossol, have you considered picking up where Magden left off? Their M1b product was awesome but now stopped production because they didn't see the return on it that they were looking for. If simplified by maybe just figuring out how to make this output via RCA with two or three guage options, and the ability to add any sensor it would sell to all makes/models. This basic functionality is all it needs and you would easily profit where Magden couldn't. Something to think about. lossol
Meet the first three beta testers: balrock01 - 05 LGT w/ Innovate LC1 - Testing boost, AFR, fit and function. ean611 - 08 LGT - Testing boost, fit and function. BAC5.2 - 09 Outback XT - Testing boost, fit and function. Units probably wont ship until Monday. Argh, I had an idea for a feature, but I can't remember what it was. Hopefully I'll remember soon! BAC5.2 you remember the feature request? you're running out of time:p lossol, have you considered picking up where Magden left off? Unfortunately there is not enough time in the day. dschultz
Very nice product! I like that you used the analog output of the LC-1, that means you could use it with any AFR measuring system that provides a linear 0-5VDC signal. I happen to have a 14point7 NAW_7s. What would be nice is the ability to customize that analog input such that someone with an oil pressure sender could monitor the pressure rather than AFR. I think all that would be needed is three functions: Name, 0VDC=some_value, 5VDC=some_value and the user could customize the input to monitor anything that's linear 0-5VDC. Sorry for the really late suggestion, or if it has been mentioned already. Edit: Rather than 0VDC=some_value & 5VDC=some_value. A better approach would be a multiplier and offset. This is how the ECU scales some of the linear sensors already built into the car. MAP being one of them. The raw sensor value is read, that value is multiplied by a fixed value to scale it and then an offset is added (a negative offset would need to be accommodated) to put the final value in the range of real units. Awesome idea, to expand on that, what if we could flick a switch and change the signal going to that input. eg, if someone is tuning thay use the AFR, then flick a switch and then monitor EGT (don't know that signal it uses though...just an idea). If the siganl fed to it was similar and we could rig up a switch then we'd only need the ability to rename it. BAC5.2
I got mine in the mail yesterday! Nice to live less than an hour from the Dev. Install looks simple, 3 wires and a little hose (4 if you are using wideband). Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to do the whole install. I'll probably wait until my next day off to do the final install. I'm pretty excited, and I'll take lots of pics for sure! BAC5.2
I'm installing mine today, lol. Couldn't wait. Just gotta wire it up, then head to Home Depot for some hose fittings. snow05gtRI
please give an install rundown, mainly how you get the boost tube through the firewall from the engine bay to the cabin.
BAC5.2
I'll do just that. I've only done the wiring right now, I don't have the time to run the vac. tubing and I don't have the right T-fitting for the recirc valve. I'll probably do that next week when I get back from holiday. BAC5.2
I am going to follow this (roughly) for my install. http://jsalmi.com/car/boostgauge/ I plan on using .170ID .250OD semi-rigid tubing for the whole length of the gauge plumbing with whatever size T-fitting I need for it to work, and a reducer to the tubing. It should work just fine. I'll sheath the tubing in .250 ID fuel tubing to shield it from getting cut or damaged. ean611
I'm jealous.....I just picked up the hose and T fitting today...but no boost gauge... (Also, I'm at my office...it could be sitting at home without my knowledge)
BAC5.2
What size T-fitting did you get? That'd save me some trouble. ean611
no idea BAC5.2, I went to Dent Sport Garage (http://www.dentsport.com) and asked them what I needed. They sold me all the hose I needed and T for $10. It's supposedly an OEM Subaru part, so you should be able to get it from your local dealer. (Subaru does sell an OEM boost gauge). The hose and T are down in my car, I can check them out later for you and take some pics and post them if that helps.
