Drama has arrived - sheared off the AVCS bolt heads. The lower bolts have their hex notches spun out. Looking for solutions...

Look in my idea stickie....it has that particular hex driver you so lust after and I have one and it works great. Friday night I popped out 4 cam bolts using my AMS gear tools and that particular hex driver and took me about 5 minutes to get them all out easily and quickly.

BK - Amazon has [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YKTY9M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER]these[/ame], which I just ordered. With Prime you'll have it in 2 days for $10.00. But is sounds like you need the extractors that Boxman mentioned now.

That ridgid set is certainly spendy, but I bet it saves $100 worth of headache each time you use it.

I've already spent that much in broken spiral extractors :spin:. Have always wanted a good set of "proper" extractors and adding this to the toolbox, will do that. Plus, I've got several "relegated to the 'maybe' pile" projects to use it on as soon it gets here. :)

Dale: looks like that Ridgid set is quite a bit cheaper here if you're not in a rush: https://www.plumbersstock.com/product/97007/ridgid-35585-model-10-screw-extractor-set-1-4in-1-2in/
Had seen this, but tax and shipping comes to over $100.00, but it's not shipping for 2 weeks. Amazon shipped today.

Sunex is good. All of my impact rated sockets are Sunex, full metric sets shallow and deep as well as full SAE sets shallow and deep, and I beat on them like a rented mule.

Is there a local place for this brand?

Looking for local sources for the Ridgid extractor set, as I'm dead in the water until I get those bolts out. Taking the Napa extractor sets back tomorrow (the "whack with hammer to set" part makes me cringe)

Found this set - [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Sunex-2637-2-Inch-Metric-20-Piece/dp/B002MW49V0/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1420561108&sr=1-4#productDetails]Sunex 2637 1/2-Inch Drive Metric and SAE Impact Hex Driver Master Set, 20-Piece - Impact Sockets - Amazon.com[/ame] "Sunex 2637 1/2-Inch Drive Metric and SAE Impact Hex Driver Master Set, 20-Piece" and includes "Set contains 10 SAE sockets and 10 metric sockets: 1/4", 9/32", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 15mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm"

I hate buying tools in onesey/twosey, when you can get the whole set and not have to keep going back to the store.

Not that I'm aware of.

I don't have the hex bit set and can't find my extractors or I'd loan them both to you.

Snap-On has a version of the extractor set but it costs quite a bit more.

Time to resurrect this train wreck. The storage locker bill came due. :-)

Ordered the sunex 10mm hex socket & Ridgid extractor set from Amazon. Gave up trying to find a local source.

Picked a deleted set of TGVs from JmP.

If I can remember to call and pay for it, I have a STI upper cooling tank coming.
