RooTBeeR
Selling it because you aren't upgrading turbo? I was told just use the stock banjo bolt instead of the supplied ones. Yeah, JMP(who rebuilt my turbo) warned against it still. And I'll never be going bigger than a vf52(which still doesn't need that much oil) "Build" Thread <--Link (OLD) '05 EJ255 now a '13 EJ257 Bottom End w/D25 heads (NEW) Forever Slow [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Merc6
Yeah, JMP(who rebuilt my turbo) warned against it still. And I'll never be going bigger than a vf52(which still doesn't need that much oil) Seller of said kit says it's ok but only with the OEM banjo bolt. Who knows, we both may say F it and go bigger turbo last possible second and now have the proper parts for it. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
alex0856
IIRC JmP does not recommend it because the increased flow runs the risk of floating the turbo bearings. I've had this same talk with him.

I had the same talk and M prank he said just use the OEM banjo to slow the flow down. Both agreed it was overkill for the VF's but I was originally going for a BNR when I got it. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
Nightmaresmk
I ran a vf40 with the ipt kit for 65k miles. I'm now on my 18g with it. Just use the oem banjo bolt.
boxman
Yeah, JMP(who rebuilt my turbo) warned against it still. And I'll never be going bigger than a vf52(which still doesn't need that much oil) The orifice in the stock bolt will provide properly metered oil into the turbo irrespective of whether you're using the IP&T filter or not. The filter and upgraded supply pipe doesn't, and never will, cause more oil to flow into the turbo than the stock bolt will allow. Period. End of story. If you don't want to spend the extra money, then don't spend the extra money, but don't sell it out of fear that it'll kill your newly rebuilt turbo. I respect both JMP and msprank. I suspect that msprank doesn't counter this simply because he doesn't want the internet slap fight that would ensue and he's decided that any lost sales aren't impactful enough to his business to be worth the fight. I believe that JMP doesn't want to have to deal with customers that put in the upgraded bolt and kill their newly rebuilt turbo because they can't RTFM. IMO the situation is a damned shame and in the long run In the long run I think that JMP is doing a disservice to msprank. My intent isn't to call out JMP, as I said I respect him and his knowledge a great deal. I purchased one of his Custom VF40s and couldn't be happier with the performance increase. I'm not familiar with how/where the IP&T filter installs, but wouldn't an inline filter only allow a higher flow if it was setup in a way that bypassed the stock banjo bolt... right? Yes, the stock turbo banjo bolt has a small hole, but I was under the impression that the real restrictor orifice was built into the hard line. RooTBeeR
Here's a pic from Forced Performance http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/graphics/subaru_oil/oil_manifold.jpg I did notice that whenni had it off. And I honestly could use that money for a lot of other things, including the car. And I've already put that kid on and off too many times. So it's staying off. Lol hopefully I can find someone to buy it off of me. I know I'm going to take a bit of a loss, but oh well. And if I ever did do an aftermarket turbo later, I just buy a whole new kit.( the chances of that happening are slim to none ) "Build" Thread <--Link (OLD) '05 EJ255 now a '13 EJ257 Bottom End w/D25 heads (NEW) Forever Slow [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Max Capacity
You do know you have to remove that heatshield to bolt the DP on....or is that an optical illusion...? Are you using anti-seize compound on the threads ? 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Are you using anti-seize compound on the threads ? Yeah, I put it on they're like that so that I wouldn't lose hardware or Parts since my build has been taking so long. And yes, anti-seize on the exhaust hardware. Especially since I should be getting a downpipe in a few months. RooTBeeR
Better than it was, but not as good as it needs to be. Started falling asleep under the car, had to call it quits for the night. 08/05/2015 Put the power steering pump on. Motor mounts on. Put the torque converter on. Mated the engine and trans. Nee to finish torquing bell housing bolts and then bolt the drive plate to the torque converter. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/06/a15fd3f922ac3032b1e9cb6b6b8bc20b.jpg "Build" Thread <--Link (OLD) '05 EJ255 now a '13 EJ257 Bottom End w/D25 heads (NEW) Forever Slow [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
