jaysracing
Does anyone have experience with cheap coils+Swift springs? If the Swift springs are within the range of the damper's valving, it would be a good upgrade. If the rates are too high for the damper, you would prematurely blow the damper. If the rates are too high for the damper, you would prematurely blow the damper. The issue with the sub-1k coilovers is this: CONSISTENCY between the dampers. I have a suspension guy with a shock dyno and the cheapo coilovers are never match and the dampening on them is all over the place. There are even some of these supposedly adjustable coilovers that have a complete placebo knob in that it doesn't do anything when changed (according to the shock dyno). Getting mis-matched dampers doesn't do much good at all. Also once the fluid heats up on most sub-par dampers they go to crap as well. -Mike Paisan AZP's First Private Track Event, June 19 at NJMP Thunderbolt $315 including Classroom and Mentor! http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. AZP Installs
Almost all the Sub-1K coilovers come out of China/Taiwan and are knockoffs with different names slapped on them. And yes ISC are considered poor quality controlled dampers. If you only need them for ride height for the "Low and Slow" crowd then these are all fine. In terms of performance a good set of Konis with Springs will be far superior performance-wise. -Mike Paisan AZP's First Private Track Event, June 19 at NJMP Thunderbolt $315 including Classroom and Mentor! http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. WaspGT
No, its like I paid $450 for an awesome suspension that retails for $1300. It rides great, performs well. All you DD's that feel like you need to blow thousands on a race or track proven suspension just to make it to Dunks and work are absolutely crazy. These particular C/O's eliminate my squat 100%, and lower my ride height sufficiently. If you're looking for a "slammed" or "Hellaflush" look, I wouldn't choose ISC comforts, the rear doesn't crank down low enough for that. My rears are down as far as they'll go and my wheels are far from tucked. I will say that they create a respectable perch and the pillow ball set up helps to give it a decent ride. The dampening adjustment works great as well, you can have them as stiff or as soft as you'd like. I don't track my LGT, or else I might have chosen some KW's. I know that most of you also stand behind the Koni's and springs set up, which is fine too, but I prefer an adjustable ride height. ...
