What failed on your Second Generation Subaru today?

Recommended Posts

Troob, don't do it. Find a Subaru specialist that has his own place. I probably knows what's causing that with the EJ25D motor. I've had things go

Down with that engine right as I bought my car. The P.O. Really didnt take care of that motor. I think for the price we get these cars for its safe to say some non-Subaru enthusiast owned it and treated it like sh**. It's a great car sturdy that worth your effort.

I am not sure what is going on with mine. Mine is a 2.2 Phase 2, which is a bit diff from most everyones cars on this forum. If I go on 2.5RS forums, they describe many of the hesitation problems I've had... Random stalls with a warm engine and partial throttle, off idle high throttle hesitations etc but never have any solutions. I like the car well enough but there are too many small problems with it. My career is based around telling people how to fix things... HARD things. Advanced electrical diagnostics, hydraulic schematics, transmission teardowns... If I cant fix my own thing it kind of nags at me to the bone.

My AC failed today- Just got my 1 year old in the car, got 10 minutes into the 40 minute drive home- 95deg. is too hot for a little one trapped in the back!

Is there a fusible link/ circuit breaker or something that "goes" and prevents the AC Compressor clutch from engaging? I haven't tried the simple things like the fuse panel yet, but wondering if there is something else 'common' to look for.

BTW- 99 Legacy 2.2l sdn., 5spd w/ 291K miles. Just added 134A to the system last week to bring into proper pressure range.

Allentown, PA area.....

You may have overcharged the AC system. That's what I did when I used the AC in a can. The gauges don't work whatsoever. Take it to a shop and let the pros work on it IMO. It worked fine until the outside temp approached the 90s then it was hot air. My local Subaru dealership charged $97 which was much less than the $350 I was quoted by other local shops.

Slude, that wrx bro sounds like a dick.

Haha, would've been great to have been able to smoke em.

Tonight (like, just now) I had two lugnuts fail. Or bolts I guess. My FL wheel bearing (and axle boot) has been needing attention for a few weeks (er, months) and today it started making some real nasty noises as I was headed home. I picked up the hub and CV axle on the way, but I got the hub only and so I need to order the assembly.

Anyway I figured I'd take the wheel off and see what kind of mess I have going on under there. I got the wheel off, along with two broken bolts stuck in my lugnuts. I'm pretty thankful they failed now and not while I was, you know, driving

drove the GT last night when we went out for chinese food. the power steering pump is knocking around all over the place, but seems to still work fairly well. last night the daughter moved it out from behind my work truck and told me the steering was very hard to move. i guess its about to get replaced.

Out of nowhere my remote electric unlock makes this horrendous noise and fails to unlock the car. "Lock" still works on the remote and the key still works and unlocks all doors. Not sure what the hell is going on with it. Also my CEL light is on again. I've owned it just over a year and the CEL has been on more in the last month than the preceding year of ownership.
