I went to pick up me Legacy at the body shop today. When I started it the ABS LIGHT didnt turn off. They did front end work to her. Removed the old radiator support than had to cut a small piece off of the passager side front just behind the radiator support and before the shock tower. That's about all of the work I think they did. Does anyone have any ideas as what could have gone down with my ABS brake system?

they probably just unplugged it and either forgot to plug it back in or didnt reset it

My specialty is shipping big stuff. Try me though. Make a list and let's see if it's practical!

I would assume yes..... I know you're somehow getting better gas mileage, but I don't really see why you haven't adjusted it yet. I had some stupid loud ticking noise that came from the 98 Fozzy motor I swapped into the 98 LGT. I could never figure out what it was...

i havent adjusted it because i havent had time, and im broke... usually when i undertake fixing a problem i encounter 5 more that need fixing too before the original one can be solved..

now that i think about it, i believe it was the noise you called out in that video i posted a while ago, but just dismissed as an exhaust leak...

I get that. But timing on the 25D is one of the most important aspects. I'd at least do a compression test to make sure that everything is where it sorta should be.

I can't find that video again.... Linky please. I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about, I just wanna look again.

Yep, that's the noise I'm talking about. In that video, the sound yours is making is a bit worse than mine was. I think it's a lifter noise... I know they are shimmed, but who knows. Mine only started after I removed and replaced the drivers side head to replace the head gasket.

Justin,

Check the lifters for sure and do you have any exhaust leaks? It sounds like a mixture of the two.

yeah man that vid had an exhaust leak at the EGR, but now its just the ticking, ill have to peruse about on how to check the lifters.. after some youtubing, i am leaning toward them, its a much 'lighter' sounding tapping than piston slap/ rod knock

also, in the spirit of the thread, between this and my last post, my clutch pedal stopped coming back up all the way mid drive... bled this thing to perfection not even 1k ago so ill have to see whats up

Where exactly is it located so that I may plug it back in. Reset it? How can I do that. Sorry for all of the questions. I've never done more than swap out the brakes and end links on these cars. But I'll find it if I get some help.

Hesitation is back... I am REALLY close to trading this car in. NOTHING stops the hesitation!

Troob, don't do it. Find a Subaru specialist that has his own place. I probably knows what's causing that with the EJ25D motor. I've had things go

Down with that engine right as I bought my car. The P.O. Really didnt take care of that motor. I think for the price we get these cars for its safe to say some non-Subaru enthusiast owned it and treated it like sh**. It's a great car sturdy that worth your effort.

Zues, if your BK is a 95 then you should have HLAs right? They are easy to bleed, but often that doesn't work in my experience. They are self adjusting and easy to replace. Just remove the valve covers and rocker assembly and swap some out if they are collapsed.

Zeus has a 97 or 98 25D. He has the shimmed bucked lifters. If something isn't right with the cam or lifter shim I believe I can cause that sort of noise if the cam is slapping into the lifter. I'm totally in the dark on this one though. My noise was coming from the back of the drivers side bank. I did compression tests and whatnot but I don't remember any specifics. That stupid noise was a PITA

i doubt you'd be able to relocate it, the lines are metal and pre-bent

found this tho

If you pull the fuse, I believe it messes with your brake bias.

Every brake system has a "proportioning valve" that adjust brake bias, from front to rear (with abs, left to right as well). The proportioning valve is usually mounted on the firewall right in the middle.

You can eliminate ABS by replacing the ABS motor with a proportioning valve, Wilwood makes an adjustable proportioning valve.
