Racer X (itsme) FMIC install

So I take it that intake valves are closed when the engine is not running?

With the car off the throttle body is closed and the air will stop there. His method should work, though you really only need to bring it to 20-30 psi

Me and my lonesome self started the install today. I think for myself it went pretty good. So far the only thing I have noticed is that the passenger side pipe seems danger close to the GTSpec headers. I am sure they are not supposed to be rubbing, but they almost seem like they want to. Does anyone else with aftermarket headers see this? I don't think it is a problem, they just seem almost too close. I will know how well centered it is after I get the bumper on and then do some pressure testing before I reflash. Did not seem that bad of an install, really....so far.

I don't think my car wants a FMIC and I am on hold. Was trimming the bumper and the razor

Knife jumped into my thumb, but the bone stopped the blade. I wish the hospital woud hurry up

So I can get my stitches and and finish up. I will not be defeated!

Woops. Sorry to hear about the injury. Dremel works wonders on the bumper skin. I have Perrin headers. The pipes are close. Do not touch and have never had an issue. I kinda figured the heat from the headers might help the hot pipe charge air stay warm, lol.

My buddy was unable to make it out with the pressure test cap, so I just may have to slap it together and see how she holds. It feels "tight" anyway. Yes, dremel would have been better. I don't know if I read the, "if you are a stupid ass you can't sue me if you injure your self on the install in the instruction manual anywhere.:lol::lol:

At least you have a sense of humor about it. I have a nice scar from installing my front Cobb sway bar. Should have got stitches, but the snow worked good enough to keep going, lol.

Congrats on a nice looking install.

I have some ideas to make things super clean and take out some of the previously mentioned concerns. I will try them out during my teardown. Perfect time since the car is already in pieces. I will report back with results.

Wrong? It isn't making 450whp thats whats wrong, lol

Upgrading AGAIN.

1000cc injectors, EWG, Fuels Rails, KSTech 73mm intake, bunch of crapola. Shamar gets the chance to really blow up the block. Going for max boost from 3000-redline. Aiming for 450whp on the dyno.

HOLY CRAP BALROCK I IMAGINED IT EVERYWHERE BUT A THUMB.

You are now my personal hero for finishing up your install after a to the bone thumb stab. Last time I had one of those - I WENT HOME FROM WORK FOR A DAY. Seriously.

Stoked you got it in and running. Hope the hand heals fast.

F-ing scared of razors under torque or when they are dull.

LOL! I could have finished, but the wife said I was done for the day when I finally got home. It was a brand new blade. I wish to god I could take the day off, but we are so swamped for a change. I am going to throw the bumper and intake on and I will be done. Gotta get that flash on and get moving for that tune time! Good times for sure!!

Now that I have driven this FMIC in the summer heat (90+ for a couple of days) I have been able to change the table in the ECU that compensates timing based on intake air temp.

My table used to be appropriate for my TMIC, but now it seems that the amount of timing I have to pull in the heat is less (this is despite the fact that I run a leaner AFR and more timing and boost then TMIC). So the 10+ whp I gained going to FMIC is more like 15+ WHP difference in the heat.

itsme: answer my PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LBGT would you mind posting your IAT comp table. I adjusted mine just a little from stock but am curious how much it could go.

I also really noticed a difference in the heat, last few days were upper 80's and humid. Last year with my TMIC the car felt way slower on hot days, this year I don't notice the power drop nearly as much. FMIC is the way to go.

Mike you are gonna be soooo pissed when your motor blows.

Mentally prepare so you don't freak out and do something stupid....Say it with me now, "some day it will blow, I have to pay to play." "Some day it will blow, I have to pay to play".

Lol...

Took our RACER X equipt LGT with a vf39 sti style to the Irwindale 1/8th mile today with our favorite tuner Infamous1.

1.9 60ft

8.4 1/8th @ 85mph

projected 1/4 mile: 13.1

WAY TO GO RACERX FMIC!!! Definately worth the price of admission.

Oh, trust me... I know. It wont be the first motor I pushed too hard. Ever see what happens when you fail to check valve clearance after break in on an air cooled motor? Go for one last ride for an ice cream cone before the sun goes down, then check clearance it will be ok. Just a few more miles. Then you are pushing a 400lb machine 3 miles through waist deep sand after it spit valves through the pipes.

Ever do a Glamis bore job? You know stay up all night drunk as a skunk while twisting a glass wrapped with sand paper into your cylinder by camp fire light. Just to get that 2 stroke running again so the weekend is not a total waste?

With over 100k invested in 2 bikes and blown motors in crates still, I know what to expect, lol.

Been looking at blocks for a while. Only question is will I buy a built one or a crate and build it myself?
