BAC5.2
Well, the Honda key for sure doesn't have the same programming method as the Subaru key. I haven't given up hope on the usefulness of the Honda key, but it doesn't look promising so far. justyfid
RE: the flip case. It's "meh". The quality CLEARLY isn't what a VW key is, but I'd say it's mostly decent. It feels cheap, but that's probably because there is nothing inside of it yet. The surface gets really scuffed up, but perhaps a coat of Plasti-Dip would help improve the appearance of the key. Anyone know how Plasti-Dip would hold up to the abuse a key is subject to? The last thing I'd want is to paint the key and have it looking like crap later on, or having the paint come off in the pocket of my pants. Ideas? I do agree with you regarding the quality of the honda key as compared to the VW. As far as the surface getting really scuffed up, I am surprised you would experience such issues. I have had my key done for many months now, and have no such problems with keeping my key in my pocket daily. Maybe your additional keys on your chain are sharper than mine? BAC5.2
2 house keys, a golf-cart key, and 2 plastic tags are all that's on mine. Then again, it had also been sliding around in a cardboard box for a week. DocHolladay23
Just a heads up for everybody, I bought some more of the Hyundai shells from GiES store, they have the same model # (GiES600H) however, they are slightly longer and thinner and I wasn't able to get the buttons to line up as well and feel solid. If anyone is looking at ordering/making these be aware that the new version is a little harder to work with, I would suggest looking for the shells that say "Exclusive" on the back, that's the original shell and it works great. As it stands I'm not making any more, I might start up again in the summer if I get a few people that want them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? DocHolladay23
I would send him a message and ask him if thats the one that says exclusive on the back, since those could be the stock photos he had. The auction I bought them from had the same pics but the keys I got were slightly different. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? Hit me up here!!! lilbrudder
Doc, what is the best/easiest way to get the chip out of the OEM fob?
BAC5.2
eyeglass screwdriver and tweezers. DocHolladay23
^+1, it doesn't even have to be that small of a screwdriver, there's a small indent on the top of the fob opposite the keychain, stick a screwdriver in there and twist it and it pops right open. lilbrudder
sorry, I asked the wrong thing(after reading 23pages my brain turned to mush). I meant the transponder chip out of the OEM key?
firepyro515
IIRC, doc had a picture posted of where the immobilizer chip was located in the OEM key, can't seem to find it, but maybe he can post it up again. IIRC, i think he just attacked it with a dremel, thats what i would do
lilbrudder
I though there was one here too, but could not find it.

DocHolladay23
that ridge pattern doesn't look the same for my 06 key, so make sure it is for your 08! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? mazdaprotege
Thanks for pointing that out. I looked at more of the Nissan keys available on eBay, and it looks like that photo may be backwards, because Nissan key blades are supposed to be identical to Subarus'. It may be a good idea to email the seller and make sure that the pic is actually backwards before buying it. Sorry about that.

mazdaprotege
Another option for the '06 and '07s would be this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-2004-2005-03-04-05-NISSAN-MURANO-FLIP-KEY-REMOTE_W0QQitemZ370193263161QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item56313cea39&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1171|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 Since it's a Nissan key, it'll work with the Subaru, and the buttons look like they're placed so that the internal electronics will line up with them. It's worth a shot.
