ndmx52
just a quick question, what would be the best drill bit to use on the dremel when cutting the key? I just used a cut-off wheel. Seemed to work pretty well.

mclarenf3
Well while I took the transponder out of my valet key, something must have gone wrong because I cannot start my car with that transponder anymore. This sucks, how much are we talking about to get a new one?

Maybe it just needs to be re-connected to the car
mclarenf3
Well as I was taking it out (with a dremel) I did get a bit close and there are two spots where it's been scraped. I don't see how it would affect it, but it does appear to be damaged now.

mclarenf3
I got the one for the Hyundai: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Folding-Remote-Key-Case-HYUNDAI-Elantra-Avante-FLIP-/180525095210?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a0822592a#ht_1176wt_956 The buttons are not exactly matching though, but I was able to get it to work with all the front ones (the panic button at the back was too far off alignment though). zmarko
Silly question...but is the transponder loose in the key enclosure? When I had my '08 Spec B last year, the flip key I had worked up had the transponder pop out of it's "home", and I guess moved to the end of the key furthest away from the steering column. It wouldn't start where it was...i was at the store, so I had to go in and buy a eyeglass repair kit to open up the key and put it back in it's place. Car started right up. Just something to check. mclarenf3
I haven't even gotten that far. Basically I took a key that I had cut from a locksmith, and pressed the transponder against the key as I start the car. No matter where I put the transponder (even inside the ignition ring) the car won't start. I'm 99% sure it's a broken transponder (my fault). DocHolladay23
yeah, unfortunately if you just bought the chip you would have to have the ECU reprogrammed to add a new one, that was why I reused the chip from a working key. mclarenf3
I didn't buy a chip, I used the one from my valet key. But I think I buggered it while taking it out of the key.
DocHolladay23
sorry that was more directed at EvilCamaroSS' question, but yeah that sucks man I'm sorry, you kinda have to guess where they are and sometimes it's hard to tell between the chip and the key when cutting. Although I've nicked my fair share of them and they still seem to work after. Just bad luck for you. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] You want stickers? Hit me up here!!! You want a shirt? Hit me up here!!! integroid
http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n227/OOOVICT0ROOO/DSC_0003-3.jpg http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n227/OOOVICT0ROOO/DSC_0004-3.jpg Would anyone be interested in a flip key like the above? I will have 3 of them with transponders, all electronics, and key blanks for sale soon. I went on a rampage and bought a few extras of everything. I have everything but the key blanks and they should be here anyday now. It will be completely assenbled and ready for cutting/programming when you get it. I would like to get $60 each plus shipping. PM if you are interested.
