Catalyst
Ok, the matte clearcoat you have to find at an Arts and Crafts store. I got mine at AC Moore. This is it: http://www.krylon.com/products/matte_finish/ Hope this helps! "This is an adventure."

nismoz
Ok, the matte clearcoat you have to find at an Arts and Crafts store. I got mine at AC Moore. This is it: http://www.krylon.com/products/matte_finish/ Hope this helps! Today, I bought a krylon satin clearcoat and tried again. It came out to be better than last time but the color is still quite different from rest of the grill. It looks has much more gray hue than the grill section. Now I don't even know how to fix this problem. I am sure the matte clearcoat is very similar to the satin clearcoat (it is same company after all). In fact matte one would be more flat so I guess more of the grayness compared to the somewhat black metalic grill color. Is it because the way I spray it? I learned not to actually coat the painting surface (instead mist them) if you are trying to make it look like flat clearcoat because if you coat them, it will look more like glossy clearcoat. 3L1onz
Loving the L7 shield badge. I was thinking of putting the GT letters on my RBS grill, but since I got the L7 overlays for the back and steering wheel...and now I've seen this I'm seriously reconsdiering. BigInALegacy
Whobaru - nice color combo! Love the red with the chrome ring still in tact and the black mesh. Looks sweet man! (Awaiting my carbon fiber grill to match my hood scoop)
TSiWRX
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u259/TSi_WRX/119-1920_img.jpg ^ I painted only the winglets - they now match my side-marker streaks, which I'd painted after an aborted project attempt .... Other pertinent mods in that area are: -Stanza CF eyelines -"Cleared" headlights -RPM CCFL DDE (not lit in picture) -SilverStar turn signals (not lit in picture) -VEIL G4 (single layer) What I thought strange was that I'd imagined that the black winglets should have given the jammer heads (LPPs) that I have in that area more visual disguise, instead, they seem to have highlighted it, versus the factory chrome finish. Go figure! I simply sanded down the winglets, and coated with about three coats of paint. I did not use a clearcoat, as my side-marker's streaks were not clearcoated, and I wanted to keep the surface finish as close as possible between the two. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
Gmoe
Ultra flat and body colored wings. Holding up pretty good after a couple weeks. If it chips real bad I may pay to have it painted the same scheme by a pro. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_y662cR2205s/SOU50bYektI/AAAAAAAACHM/DHKf3JYmaIA/s800/DSC04115.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/gmoreschi/SKJ8BBXdCYI/AAAAAAAABhs/oI2WByLl3Po/s800/DSC04109.JPG http://lh4.ggpht.com/gmoreschi/SKJ76adUJeI/AAAAAAAABhc/AlxNcgiPZPc/s800/DSC04115.JPG

SilverSeraphim
^ That looks really good for DIY and less than $7! Can the 05 grill be done with no cutting? Just remove winglets and emblem?
hutru01
^ You could add mesh over top of it, but I am not sure how good it will look. You could try removing the chrome and then adding the mesh. Who knows, if the mesh is thick enough, it might look ok.
