Looks awesome! I'd be glad to print these for you if you need that service. From looking at the photos, I'm fairly certain I could CNC them with my router also out of aluminum.

May or may not have gotten some things done on the dual vent pod :hide:

It's been crazy here at work along with me trying to get my RX7 running right to sell it I haven't had a whole lot of time. But I got some stuff done :)

Might print a prototype over the weekend.

Figured a video is better than a picture

Man that looks epic!

Have a few small minor changes to make before I print it. Just figured I would give people an update :) I turned on the visualization of some of the lines so you can get a better idea of the contours. Need to add a few more fillets here and there to smooth it out. And I am going to try and add the horizontal "blades" now that I have the vertical ones done.

Honestly what would really help is if anyone with 52mm gauges could measure the OD for me. Just want to see the variation in diameters. I would rather make the openings a little on the small side and then have to sand some out if need be rather than have it be loose.

I'll have to find my other gauges and measure them all. The one I have here at my desk is 51.68mm (2.0355in). All I am interested is in the diameter at the depth that it will be sitting. The one I have here at my desk was around 50mm at the very end and then the 51.68 at the front behind the lip.

I'm kinda curious as to how this is going to turn out when I print it. I might have to wait for the weekend again because I want to print at 0.007" build instead of the normal 0.010" which adds a significant amount of time but looks a lot better.

Ok here's the pic after I added some more fillets and whatnot to smooth it out. I also took off all the boundary line enhancements. The lines in green I drew on are the main areas that I added the fillets to. Also added the horizontal blade. There are some of the spots on it that I cannot add fillets like I want but I assume when it prints it will have enough of an edge break to be fine.

from experience, i'd not make the ENTIRE ID be smaller, but add some bumps that would be quick to sand down a little if needed, or instead of a round opening, do a polygonal opening. i've had experience both ways and it's easier to do a little touch up sanding for a tight fit rather than have loose gauges that require a band-aid.

also, what gauges are that deep these days? mine are like a half an inch or less deep. i guess it doesn't matter too much, but those cups are bahemoths!

That is looking awesome! It's gonna require a ton of support to print though. If there is enough interest, maybe a group buy, I will purchase a second extruder for my printer so I can print the support in a soluble material (ABS with HIPS as support)

Well I have a lip in there. It's about 3mm deep. It's not the same thickness all the way back. Kinda hard to see with all the intersection lines not visible. As far as the cups go they were only 2.5" and 2.75" deep. The vent isn't that big so it looks obnoxious lol. The gauge I have here at my desk is pretty deep. What kind of depth do you think I should go with? I brought them down to 2.25" and 2.5" now. Just takes awhile to redo all the fillets and blends to make everything look nice again.

Thanks :) I'm excited to finish it. Yea I figured on the support. I plan on at least printing one here so I can get an idea of how much material and whatnot is needed. I can find out exact numbers and let you know for sure once I print it so you can have some sort of idea.

I did get a few more blends done to help with some support and whatnot. Basically just doing finishing touches for now. I think I'm going to drop the opening size down to 51mm so then there is room for inconsistencies in the printer and gauge. Won't be hard to sand the lip down.

Im having a friend make a SI drive delete plate thing since I have a SI drive console and no SI drive. This is the first draft/print. One corner came up off the print bed a bit and it needs to be a bit closer to the center console. Will try and make it cleaner but if anyone is in the need for such a thing let me know. I can sell a couple or if anyone here is interested in the file so they can add it as a product on their website let me know.

Any provisions for wiring to exit the pod?

i think that's the little "tube" that goes down the vent on the left side. then i guess one routes it down the vent tube till they want it to come out.

Flinkly is correct. Here I made parts of it transparent so you can see the tube. It is all internal so the only part you see is the little bit of the tube in the vent but it is all blended together.

I have an SI drive cover modeled that I can just send you the blank

I have cut outs in mine to make a switch panel for mine.

Has all the mounting points on the bottom and everything. This was the first draft. Made some revisions and whatnot so now it's pretty much dead nuts. I can just remove the holes for the switches and send you the blank one. I'm in the process of building a new switch set so that I can keep the SI drive selections there but make them much smaller so that I can still have the 4 toggle switches.

That's what I thought I saw from the first photo, but wasn't sure. I'm excited to see a printed version.

Please do send me a blank. Will save a lot of time of my friend having to create one from scratch.
