Hi discojon and everyone,

Tom here from Liberty.asn forum in Australia. I sell discojon's 3D Printed Dash stoppers over here.

This isn't really anything 3D Printed (except the prototype maybe), but in case anyone is interested, a member over here is making these SI-Drive Caps. I posted a quick thread here on your forum. As I mention in the thread below, this isn't the final design, but will be close to this:

a sunshade/hood like these for this vent gauge that's kinda like

that can shield it...make sense?

oohhhh that thing. yea that makes sense. I'm not sure how it would hold in place though. I'm gone all next week but I'll see what I can come up with.

Can someone make a small sunshade for the 4th gen navigations??

I feel like this would be the same issue as the hood above in regards to holding it in place.

Mine also doesn't sit in the same location as block8head's pods. His are off to the right of the pod built up. Mine sit like this for now. Might change the angle of them some more once I have the actual pod finalized. Need to add some channels in to make sure the air gets directed properly and also to separate the air channels from the wire channels that I will be incorporating.

Did you have any chance to get the gauge pod finalized, any update on this?

was thinking I could just do a thin piece of 3m foam adhesive or something...or maybe tabs that shot straight back between the vent and dash?

I have not. We have our yearly conference for work next week so things have been crazy getting ready for it. Haven't really had enough free time to work on it. I have the pods and everything modeled I'm just working on blending the pod onto the vent. I'm picky so it needs to be right

Is there enough of a gap for something to go through? the 3m could possibly work. If that were the case the hood would be pretty simple to make.

honestly 3m would be fine for me, especially if it's easier for you to do without the tabs. Plus I think you're right that there is no room in between those.

I'd rather have a bad ass gauge pod, rather than a pretty cool one.

Quality takes time, so I appreciate the eye for detail, I'm in no rush anyway, I just figured i'd ask.

Ok sounds good. Well I will be gone for a week so I won't be able to work on it. I'll see what I can come up with when I get back. Shouldn't be very hard to do at all.

Well you asking got me wanting to work on it so I stayed late at work to get a little farther.

I set the gauges back a little farther and changed up the angles of them. I also was able to integrate the vent path into the pedestal for the gauges. Now I just need to make a hole somewhere to route the wires and add the directional fins for the vent. Would that be something you guys would want? Or would you rather have it lacking the fins?

Of course the best part...some pics :)

Needs fins, I think. Raise the gauges up a little bit so you have a way to make a "tunnel" for the wires through the trunk holding them up?

What kind of fins are we talking?

How did I miss this thread??

It was created in 2014!!!

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/would-interested-usdm-08-09-rear-bumper-ventsi-164272.html

Anyone willing to help me???

I have an STL file of the JDM vent which needs to be converted from a part file to something usable and then modified to mesh the shape of the USDM opening/reflector backing into the front of the JDM Vent

And then I need a 3D scan or a CAD file made for the OEM reflector

I looked into this a while back. IIRC on the usdm cars there is something solid behind the reflectors so a vent was pointless.
