First truck for me too, I've told myself I'll wait at least a year till i tune it, it'd be great if banks came up with something for it but there are already a bunch of options, currently looking at the duramaxtuner setup with the dial since i do tow with it and don't want it on full kill all the time but need the option, plus it's just fun to have another thing to play with. can't believe its supposed to get even better gas mileage after a tune, i already get 30 pretty easily on country highways. first owner ditched the front air damn on mine so its not quite that at 65+. congrats on the new truck -

mines only seen 7 winters, the top of every mountain rd in VT, and has been taken out every time it snows since the beginning of its life. it may be rusty as all get out but a better snow slayer there is not. hopefully it'll fail an inspection before its too far gone to become an actual racecar but i don't see it slowing down anytime soon. a clutch, timing belt, head gaskets, ARP studs, koni shocks and some more goodies are to come this spring before i start chasing some actual power, we'll see just how stuck those engine mount bolts are soon enough... -

If i remember correctly from the last time I did the serpentine belt(probably almost 30K ago) the tensioner moves a lot, I'd think the belt would have to be pretty undersized to not be able to get it in there at all. i put my breaker bar on it when i did it, you won't hurt the tensioner as long as you stop pulling when you hit a positive stop. -
In VT there are a bunch of places that do this and they certainly do get extra money for them... but that only because cars that lived up here are worthless and they are selling high quality used cars under 100K with the ole we'll take care of you warranty for people that want some peace of mind. they aren't trying to sell the the kid looking for 150k mile Subaru. I wouldn't say they are making themselves rich but certainly a lot less surprises and fixes to deal with and consistency helps make a sustainable business.

I hate trying to do it through the wheel well, i can get it on the driver side with my right hand but can never get the passenger side with my left. I pull the bumper to do the headlights now. -

I do want to use the best stuff... I just don't understand why a car manufacturer would have the best. You'd think valvoline would be better at making fluids since, ya know, they make fluids. I'm going with Subaru fluids since I can't find any legitimate answers as to how it's the same/different from normal blue stuff before the additive they use to keep head gaskets in place while constantly wet. Only reason I used valvoline was because it was sunday and subaru was closed and I needed to make sure that I didn't have a bigger problem. Lucky I was using my accessport for a coolant gauge because the hot light didn't come on. Does anyone know what temp it comes on at? -

looks to be that it was just accumulated air recking the vacuum because the coolant has over 100K on it. topped off and bled it with some blue stuff and the car is acting normally, temps drop after crossing the 190 threshold, fluid drains out of the overflow back down below the high mark once cooled. just need to do a little flush and get some fresh fluid in there. do i really need to run subaru supercoolant or can i just use regular blue stuff with the subaru additive? -

Took her for a nice drive around the lake Champlain islands this afternoon... temps were 230 when i got back, let it cool down and checked just now, my upper radiator hose is totally empty, the coolant tank is nearly brimming, way over the high mark even cold so I'm assuming i have an air leak. my freaking truck did nearly the same thing 2 weeks ago, except the coolant tank was empty, ended up being a broken hose clamp. didn't find any leaks under this one but there was some fluid that came out of over flow because it seems it filled all the way up. -
