  2. not sure if it was mentioned, but weren't there a few '06 5MT LGT wagons? I recall one or two...like leftovers that got '06 VIN's or something. Those would be the most rare of all. What's funny about the numbers....the LGT I had is identical to the one that c-lo still has (lives near me). There's a third identical ABP GT Limited 5sp wagon with black leather around as well. What are the chances our of 400ish cars, three are so close?

  4. quick recap of my tire experiences over the last three years (obv. some sizes won't work for the LGT): 215/45/17 Kumho ASX. Good. Buy em. 215/35/17 Bridgestone RE92. Good. Get em free (never pay!) 215/45/17 and 225/40/18 Bridgestone S0-3. Good. Buy em (though there are better tires for the money) 215/50/16 Dunlop Direzza DZ101. Crap. Skip em 205/55/15 Kumho Ecsta SPT. Crap. Skip em 215/45/17 Falken ZIEX 912. Great. Buy em 215/45/17 and 245/35/18 Goodyear F1GSD3. Great. Buy em. 215/45/17 Nokian WR. Great. Buy em. 205/50/15 Yokoham A048 'medium compound'. Good (better for the money though). 215/35/18 Yokohama Parada Spec-2. Great. Buy em. 225/35/18 Goodyear F1 Asymmetric. TBD (going on tomorrow) 215/45/17 Avon M550 . Great. Buy em. 265/50/20 Yokohama Parada Spec-X. Good. Skip em. 265/60/18 and 265/50/20 Avon Tech ST. Great. Buy em. 215/45/17 Bridgestone RE01R. Great. Buy em.

There was SE37A and SE37K. Similar, but the A had softer contours. They K's looked badass....I can't imagine the A's not looking better still.

  7. +1 on RE01R's. I have them in 215/45/17.....very progressive at that limit....incredible amounts of grip.
  8. I work from home and have a 210hp FWD car, so kinda hard to compare. We have gotten a fair bit of snow....some this morning in fact. c-lo had the 912's on his LGT (replaced the 512's) - handling is much better but he went back to 512's....snow traction sucks on 912's in comparison.
  9. I'm running the new ZIEX912 for my winter set on the MINI (205/45/17) and I can tell you....MUCH stiffer than the ZIEX512's.
  10. 18x8 ET 48 with a 245/35/18 is a nice setup. you'll need to pull the weatherstripping off, at least on the wagon.

  12. can't say enough about the benefit of a 2pc rotor. We did a stint of The Tail of The Dragon in NC/TN with the car full of luggage, camera gear, parts for my MINI and two 65lb kayaks on the roof (with more gear stowed inside). Never did I get a hint that the brakes weren't up to the task and there literally was no room left inside the car....full up with stuff after our wedding. anybody that has run the Dragon knows it's hard on brakes http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/img_6783.jpg
  13. the Brembo upgrade makes the most sense if you already have wheels to support them. I did Cobb pads, lines and Motul fluid first and wasn't happy (and spent $500). Looking at a Brembo swap...it wasn't much more expensive if you can sell your stock front brakes ($1200- ~$400). I did Brembo's with 2pc rotors and Hawk HPS pads F/R....sold the Brembo rotor and pads before install.....think I had about $900 in the setup after selling all the things I didn't need and was quite happy with it. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/brembos.jpg
  14. good to know. I'm going back and forth about RS2's and RT615's and wet weather is my concern. Thinking of even trying RE01's as well.
  15. I joined ACA well ahead of my purchase, but was able to negotiate a better deal when it came time to buy. Fitzmall.com is a good barometer of deals to be had.....VIP takes the negotiating out of it, but it's sometimes possible to get a better deal. My deal was $950 less than VIP at the time (Nov 2004).
  16. my Thule kit was noisy. No big deal....the whole thing goes off and on in about 5 minutes, so I left it hanging on the wall when not in use. If you're an avid rider and the rack is permanent, well, that's different. Thule fairing doesn't work on the LGT....if you go Yakima, you'll probably be ok

  19. as someone who works in the biz, I'd hope you know that Clarion owns McIntosh. That happened some ten years ago.
