Here is the part of the tensioner that sheered off yesterday:confused: So far I am having no problems. Belts are all tight, I realize I need to get it replaced but what is it's function?

That is the threaded adjuster used in tensioning the A/C belt! On the idler pulley itself there is a locking bolt, which is what is currently holding tension on the belt.

If you were to release the tension on the belt, your only way of re-tensioning it, without fixing the broken part of course, would be to have someone pulling on the idler pulley to create tension, and then you could tighten down the locking bolt.

I'd have to say coincedence. Has anyone worked on the car? Otherwise it may have been overtorqued from the factory! I know from when I was installing the crank pulley, that these adjuster bolts needed very little torque, something like 11ft-lbs.

Let the dealer worry about it!

Dealer, hahaha, with Stage II, HAHAHA.

Unless it's a nit-picking dealer, they should realize that this is an isolated problem, unrelated to hp increases. If he had a crank pulley on there, then I would agree that they would not likely warranty it.

I know my dealer would look at it from my perspective. As long as a mod didn't directly impact the life of another part, the warranty is still honored!

Yes I do, I am now starting to question what exactly I have for tranny fluid! Well I know one person that is getting a call today!

Wow can you update on the ATF thing...what he put in, is it OK to use, etc.?

Mucho interested!

Nice kill, too bad about the bolt being sheered.

BTW, love the 70's porn picture effect on this photo.

we will probably never get it

just some watered down version or somethin...plus the 350ztt's are snappin connecting rods left and right, hehehe....silly z owners

Left and right, meaning there were a bunch of morons that put forced induction on the stock long-block.

Oh, sintered rods and non-forged pistons (I imagine, don't really know... but can't imagine forged internals would be snapping left and right), and they wonder why they break.

Try forged rods and lower-compression forged pistons. THEN try forced induction.

Obviously Nissan is trying it, and I'll bet the internals are forged.

I can't get over the huge honkin' intake manifold on those VQ engines... effective, but not especially attractive.

I thought the idea of the Skyline GT-R with a 4.5 liter dual cam V8 would be a good idea. Naturally aspirated horsepower, two powerstrokes per revolution, and torque to really push the AWD.

It seems like there are so few sports cars or non-FWD sport-coupes, with aluminum DOHC VVT V8 in a well balanced front-mid, or rear-mid engined chassis. You get the usual domestic usual suspects, but the mustang has a live axle, and the GTO and Corvette aren't overhead cam, and larger than a modest-sized V8 of 3.5-4.5 liters.

You pretty much have the defunct Lotus Esprit V8 (a nice turbocharged powerplant to be sure) or the Ferrari 300 series, and the Olds Series One.

A new GT-R with a higher-tune 4.5 Liter V8 from the M, Q, and FX45s and AWD as good as ATTESSA is supposed to be would be a force to be reckoned with. Not that a VQ35DETT powertrain would be shabby.

Something in the mode of an M3-beater (E90 M3 is getting a V8, too, now.) and a more focused, more aggressive version of the G35 Coupe.

Then Subie needs to develop a GT coupe from the Legacy platform. Twin Turbo H6 would be nice there. (don't want too many cylinders hanging out in front of the axle, which goes against H8)
