Huh? Did you forget that you complained about the mileage and the shifter?

And the post you replied to was only about mileage.

ooops. My mistake. I'm used to people complaining about the shifter.

Still, are people shopping for these that concerned about mileage?

MPG is one part of the buying equation. My 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP.(paid under $27K). 5 MT, 2.0L DI turbo. Under 3,000lbs. 260hp\260ft.bls. With a GMPP tune gives you 290bhp & 345btq. I commute 120 miles a day. I have 90hp more & almost twice the torque. I get 25 city\33 highway. I would think weighing around 200bls. less & having less hp it would have better MPG #'s.

Or this one that requires premium? I've tuned a couple cars and saw the mileage drop too.

Wow, all the info. is in my post:

Stock tune doesn't require Premium fuel. Regular get your 260hp\260ft.bls. My commute of 120 miles a day. 25 city\36 highway. For avg. of 30mpg. a tank.

With a GMPP tune gives you 290bhp & 345btq. Premium fuel require. My commute of 120 miles a day. 25 city\33 highway. For avg. of 28mpg. a tank.

My commute is 30 miles Interstate & 30 mile on secondary highways. Going threw 7 small to medium town.

The same commute, I avg. 24 mpg in my 05 LGT, stage 2+ custom tune.

Like I said, I really like the BZR, but for the money. You get a great handling car, but going to take a hit in all around performance & MPG. Lets hope the BRZ real world #'s are better. IMO I'm not trading in my roaster for a lesser car.

Looks like your tune is doing some magic. :) There are people out there who probably factor in mileage when buying a sports coupe. Not something I would look at, but there may be some people worried about mileage. Thanks for sharing your great results with that tune. I couldn't resist stretching the legs of that baby and would definitely get worse mileage.

Your mileage numbers are possible with the ecotec. I had the same engine, turbocharged and tuned and got 31 on the highway. The city mileage wasn't that good. I just wouldn't ever consider gas mileage when buying a car like that. It's funny to hear people complain that the BRZ doesn't have enough power and then mention mpg. Come on.

Not MPG as a whole, But MPG for the HP it make. Like a Corvette's 450-505 hp. mid. teens/ city, mid twenty's/ highway.

BZR just seems low mpg's for it's power output. That's all I'm saying.

Not my tune. Tune is done by, Mike at Tuning Alliance.

Same tuner, Quote from Max;

That's great news Mike. My wagon is reading 24.6 on the dash at 250 miles on this tank full.

Don't remember, does your engine use oil ?

His sig; 151,000+ miles on engine, Aug 20 11 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs

So those tunes help air flow, shift points, torque curve, etc. in a way that reduces fuel consumption and boosts horsepower at the same time without changing gearing, final drive ratio, fuel injectors, upgrading the turbo, etc.? Must be some pretty damn good tunes. I'll have to check out Tuning Alliance. :) Thanks.

Fuel economy was a selling point, yes.

If it's going to be that slow, it better get good fuel economy. 30, isn't impressive. If the manual got the mileage of the automatic, then that would be better.

As for the shifter, we don't know what transmission it has yet. If it has the cable shifted trans, like the split-case 6MT, then nothing will save it.

It's an Aisin 6 speed with a direct linkage like the Subaru 6mt.

I am a little surprised at how low the MT is rated. I'm thinking it just doesn't like the EPA's synthetic tests. We'll see how it works out in the real world.

...and other than the AWD launch, it's still quicker than the spec.B :p

There are two 6MT's. The cable shifted split-case, like the one in the Legacy. And the tunnel case 6MT like the STi.

And nothing is quicker than the Spec B. That's blasphemy!

Must be the new Legacy's 6mt. The 6mt in my spec.B is just like the one in my STI, just geared different.

Correct. The new Legacy is what I meant. The Spec-B 6MT is the tunnel-case 6MT, which is an INCREDIBLY well thought-out transmission. They are fantastic.

First of all, I wouldn't buy a BRZ, but that's mainly because it's underpowered and this is a new project for Subaru/Toyota. Mileage just wouldn't be one of my top considerations when buying sports coupe.

It could be true that the BRZ's target market might look at the mileage per gallon in some cases. We've owned several vettes/RX7/Triumph and other sport coupes over the years and mileage was the last thing we thought about.

Could be for some people though I guess...

Finally, something we agree on. Neither of us would buy a BRZ, mainly because it's under powered.
