I actually saw one of the smaller efr turbos yesterday. I can't remember which one it was though. I want to say it had a GT25 flange on it? Very nice looking little turbo. Looks like it will be one heck of a stock location sized turbo.

Here is the one he saw :)

Just thought I would snap a couple photos of the new EFR turbos we got in at the shop We got some of the very first ones to come down the production line. This particular one is the smaller frame EFR6758. It is 30R or a little smaller in size.

Some cool things to note: you can see the BOV port on the compressor intake if you look close. It is angled slightly where the air is directed right back at the wheel. On the turbine side you can also see the internal wastegate. It really is a pretty cool design. It is the first time I have been impressed with an internal wastegate.

Sorry the phone pics really don't do it justice, but it was all I had on me.

Look what finally showed up... I think I ordered it over a month ago. Still waiting on the downpipe and EFR!

Cool, I can't wait to see the results from that thing.

And I'm a little curious how it all fits under the hood, especially the charge compressor pipe. The way they route that pipe on the Impreza, I'm not sure you'd be able to close the hood on an LGT...

Open up Matchbot, then watch these u-tube vids from one of the guys at BW:

I was able to comprehend about 90% of it before, but this 4-part tutorial has helped me to "get" the rest of it.

Some findings on matchbot I have come up with:

The EFR 7670 w/ TS .92a/r housing looks to be ideal:

In fact at 75F at 800 feet elevation with conservative inputs it seems capable of (7670 .92a/r):

-56 lbs/min airflow

-11 psi at 2500 and 25 psi at 2900 rpm

but with the 7064 I cannot really get the TS .92a/r housing to shine, with the SS .83 a/r I get these numbers (seems to be the best match to a 2.5 liter............... at 800 feet at 75F etc.......)

-49 lbs/min airflow

-20 psi at 2200 rpm (just missing the surge line of the comp wheel)

Obviously there is no perfect turbo for an engine, a lot depends on other factors like temp and elevation. That is why this tool will be soo useful, especially once we start comparing actual results with this tool. Some people swear by larger exhaust housings, but how about the same housing in Denver at 5500 feet, not the best match anymore.

You will notice that we cannot max out these compressor wheels on our largish 4 cylinders (7670 has a 64 lb/min wheel, but you will only get a max of about 59 out of it, 7064 has a 56 lb/min wheel but you will only get a max of about 51 out of it), but still, the potential they have seems to be fantastic.

The 7670 seems to have the power potential of between a 3076 and the new GTX3076, but with much better boost threshold, and of course transient response. I can't wait to see it real life.

The 7064 should become the new 20G IMO. If someone wants SS and 20GXT power but unfriggenbelieveable spool, this may be the ticket.

GT3076 power with a thousand-RPM improvement in spool would be fantastic. I'll be really impressed if things play out that way on the street. And a little bit depressed, because I had been planning to buy a new mountain bike this summer, but....

All I can say is start playing with matchbot, soooo many things turbo related will make sense.

EGBP, a/r, efficiencies comp & turbine, VE, etc............

Not sure how accurate it might be when you start getting up there in the hp range though. I played with it a bit and it said that at 7 psi my 535 CI big block Ford motor will be making 1000 hp. Not sure how accurate that might be. Similar with the 03 Cobra motor we ran the numbers on. I would call that particular program more of an "Ideal" calculation, not necessarily what might be seen in the real world. Take for instance the difference in the Subaru exhaust system vs an Evo. There is an obvious difference in spool, exhaust runner length, heat loss, etc. But matchbot does not take this sort of thing into account. It goes by an ideal situation. Either way, great program for getting you into the ball park.

Did you change the VE parameters?

I came up with like 480 chp on their turbo that is 30r-35r sized, sounds about right to me.

What VE numbers did you change to get a 8.8 liter to 480 chp at 7 psi? VE of 25, lol. I did change them, I also adjusted the rpms to start at 1000 rpm to max of 6000. As for the BCFC I am not sure exactly what to put them to.
