Coated the wrapped headers, ready to reinstall tomorrow:

And, sprayed my new CBE. It was the VHT header paint, in satin rather than gloss. Not sure if the clear even available in gloss where I shop but while not as shiny, should still do the trick I hope. I will have to cure it on the car ;)

Ok, after 12 hours of hard labor. 3 hours of that was spent at the guy's shop doing the fabricating and doing the welding. We have install! Pictures and notes posted below. No sound clips yet. Need to get a quality mic for that.

First I will start off will the Passenger flange confusion we were having. Here you go...

Version 2 on my headers, look at the 90 degree bend.

Next we have the Version 3 that I had to cut off.

Now to prove clearance issues.

Now on to the good stuff.

My painted headers as a whole. A little dark because the flash didn't go off.

Section A of my design. Magnaflow dual O2 cat and resonator. With a V-band flange at the very back.

Slightly modified skid plate. It still may not drop low enough to clear the pipe so I may get the outback spacers from Rallitek.

Next we have relocation of O2 sensor wires. Saves time and money!!! I only had to extend the rear O2 sensor wires!!!

These pictures were taken a couple hours ago so I will try and get better ones in the future. The exhaust is loud as crap right now. Definitely gets on your nerves. But, remember I am only half way done. Still have to get the Cat-Back to modify.

Anyone know anybody looking for the stock mid pipe, resonator pipe and cans?

Well here is my version of the UEL I used Pawlwawl's V3 header and Magnaflow dual bung O2 cat along with my magnaflow resonator and CBE

The header was too narrow as I suspected so chopped it in two pieces and welded in a 3 in extension :

then we made the cat pipe

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r182/GEE-OTTO/mod4.jpg

As you can see i used my round resonator in the mid pipe

and all that ran into the axleback:

The V3 do not have the driver side flange problem but they are too narrow which is a header by header case not every one. I have it all finshed drove about 40 miles today with the O2 sensors in ( i havent extended them yet waiting to re route the harness tomorrow ) Sound is good I am going to take this off to paint it and heat wrap the headers then re install Thursday.

And NO there is NO cut in low end (.) :)

Yeah re-routing the harness is pretty simple. Remove the Fuel Rail shield (which is heavy as crap) and un-zip tie the wires, rerun the wires, and re-zip tie the harness. Remove the unused brackets to save wieght . Reinstall shield. Done.

Nice work guys.

Interesting to see that there is enough variation in the v.3 headers that it can clear the filter in some cases. But crazy to also see that it needed to be 'widened' that much too.

I cured my header wrap yesterday with a couple 15min idling sessions followed by a 5 min drive. Smokes and smells quite a bit. Its supposed to stop doing that pretty quick.

Now, I'm wondering about how to preserve the wrap and considering an undertray or skidplate to help keep them protected from the elements etc.

How much wire did you add to your sensor ? I was thinking maybe 24"? What are your plans to quiet yours down? Im thinking a third chambered muffler in line downstream of the resonator  but it is quiet at cruise speed under load no bad either sounds badass under WOT :)

I added 12" of wire. You only want to add as much is needed. The way I did it was reroute the harness wires on the motor, install the O2 sensors in the Cat and check to see how much you need. Don't forget you need enough to tie-wrap the wires out of the way of any moving parts. Seems kind of silly to mention the last part, but you would be suprised how many people forget.

The O2 wire are a pain to solder just an FYI. The solder sticks better to the copper wire than the O2 wire for some reason.

Quiet the tone:

1.) I am going to buy the cat back from CXLighting off ebay.

2.) Purchase a flex hose to weld in the mid-pipe.

3.) Purchase another resonator/muffler identical to the one I already have.

Fabrication:

From the V-Band flange on the end of Section A of my exhaust. I am going to start Section B of my exhaust with V-Band flange of course, straight to the second Magnaflow resonator/muffler, flex hose, and the remaining portion of the CXLighting CBE. (I may flip the location of the muffler and the flex hose, not sure yet)

What is the diameter of the CXLighting exhaust mid-pipes? And yes I won't be using the resonator that comes with the CBE, so whether it comes with it or not, doesn't really matter.

Granted Gee-Otto, you have the Magnaflow mufflers, which are considerably smaller than the CXLighting ones so yours will definitely be louder.

My hypothesis:

The reason I went with the resonator I did was the size of the chamber the exhaust has to bounce off of. The round one will deepen the tone, but the wavelength of the sound resonance is at a higher frequency so it will sound louder. The oval one I bought will have a longer wavelength further deepen the tone.

That will do the trick considerably. What part number was it? Because the one I have is a straight through resonator. I am thinking it is an off axis one, basically most of the ones where the in & out are in the center they are straight through resonator styles.

The benefit of the straight through though is flow design. So it is weigh your pros and cons.

We dont need to be concerned with flow LOL the stock system wasn't a restriction and my current setup def wont inhibit power.

Magna Flow P/N: 13266 24" overall and 18" body 2.5" in and out it come in an offset config but that is fine. I just want it to further mellow out the sound

I wasn't talking about power per-say. No I am not expecting nor doing this for power gains. I was just mearly stating that you will get better flow and the whole reason for straight through is for increased flow and noise.

Def. I put the stock system back on this evening waiting on a roll of header wrap and new hangers and that MagnaFlow muffler oh and a rear extension. Dont want to chop the wire after all b/c when rallisports' UEL hits the market I wont need the extra wire.

CDN are you going to add a resonator to your CBE or see how the included one fairs ???

I'm going to run the exhaust with the included resonator as-is for now. I know how not having a resonator can really drone so will try the cxlighting with the built in resonator to see how it is first before making any changes.

I won't mind if its a bit louder than what I have now and will look at soundproofing measures first before modding the exhaust.

Note - I still have my factory catalytics. The magnaflows you guys are using might be larger ID, definitely shorter (and single vs dual), so perhaps flowing better allowing more sound through as a result?
