iNVAR
did you clean your maf like i told you to? i disagree that it's a leak. the ecu is pulling fuel from across the entire board, which would indicate that he's running rich. a leak would cause the ecu to add fuel, not pull it from everywhere. and stop doing pulls until you figure out what the problem is. bmx045
not if it's an exhaust leak.
iNVAR
sorry, missed that part. i suppose that could be it, yes, if the exhaust leak is large enough before the o2 sensor.
ericem
Yup it is a stock ic, I have already replaced it with one from a new wrx and before installing it I expoxy'd it. There was no signs of any tabs bending at all, nor any signs of leaks. The exhaust sounds pretty quiet cars drives really smooth and quiet. When i put the stock map it didn't look that bad did it? Looks like the scalling on the infamous map is probably off. As soon as I get home ill clean the maf (with maf sensor cleaner have done it before though) and air filter. Should I reoil the k n filter? I should note it seems like when I give it maybe 50 % throttle lets say in 3rd at 2500rpms i get a noticeable hiss, but it seems like when I floor it, its silent for the most part. bmx045
have you tried putting the stock intake and filter back in? that's what stage 1 ots maps are designed for.
ericem
it's stock intake with k n panel filter. When I get home ill look for exhaust leaks with my dads ppm tester you might be on to something when I was ripping it down the highway did seem kind of loud actually. bmx045
forget the stupid k&n filter, get an stp at autozone and leave it alone, it's pointless at your stage.

ericem
I have the original filter ill pop it in. With the ppm tester I can easily find exhaust leaks. Ill report back.

ericem
cant hear me?? Can low compression cause this btw? Maybe i better just order up a shortblock lol.
bmx045
it could, but i wouldn't be so quick to think that in your case. if you can though, a compression test never hurts to know.
ericem
id rather just put a bov, and downpipe and wait till it blows up rather than take out the spark plugs again.
Mega Users seabass07 Posted May 23, 2012 Mega Users Share Posted May 23, 2012 True. Wait until you have to pull the engine for pistons to do the plugs.
bmx045
i did a compression test sunday without moving the motor, i have a couple good burn marks on the tops of my knuckles.

bmx045
my hands are sort of small so i can maneuver things around pretty well. took me about 1.5hr to do the full test.
ericem
i assume you have no more stupid compressor and all the associated plumbing now?
bmx045
i still have all of it, that's not a problem, you just need to know the tricks of how to move them easily.
ericem
you take out the compressor and just move the pipe out of the way right?
bmx045
yeah move the pip up and lasso the top of the pipe between the wiring harness up and out of the way, leaves plenty of room for the cyl 2 and 4 plugs and packs
ericem
still a pain holding a pry bar and maneuvering out the coil pack.
bmx045
no, you are clearly doing it wrong. the coil pack can come out without any movement of the engine. the pull the coil pack out the frame rail, rotate it 180* then up and out
