Please see post #1 on this thread for more info on the August 2nd 2008 summer cruise. Here's a link:

Looks like this is going to be an AMAZING ride through Wisconsin. It's on a Saturday so no excuses...

I will be updating post #1 when updates become available. If you don't have a 2-way radio, now would be a good time to buy some. I would like to make a list of people that would be attending so if you plan on making this please let me know and I will add you name to the list (located in post #1).

I can't wait for this!

Summer Drive list updated, only 3 attendees so far (WEAK!)

Is anyone familiar w/ the Monroe area??? I have never been so I'm trying to find an exit gas station where we can all meet up. Feel free to chime in.

On a side note, i finally got my stock 17" wheels purchased, cleaned up, waxed and mounted. My car feels much better now lol.

ZZZ Tech, I have updated the info. We are not coming to Monroe anymore. Please see the main thread, first page.

Thank you sir! Changes made.

If you are going on the Summer Cruise please see post #1. We will caravan to New Glarus Brewing Company.

Not sure if the list on the first page goes by cars or by people but my friend Miles and I are going in his WRX so that's 2 people. Also, my friend Mike (enko11) is going in his car so you can add him to the list. Not sure if there will be enough cars in the Milwaukee area to justify a caravan. Might just be easier and quicker for everyone to find their own way there depending on what area of Milwaukee they are in. We will be coming from Mequon so going to a meeting point somewhere in Milwaukee would be out of the way and kind of a waste of time and gas.

I see you picked Brookfield Square Mall as the meeting location. That's not a bad idea, it's on the way for those of us from Mequon and since everybody from the Milwaukee area will be taking Hwy 94, it shouldn't be a problem for anyone to meet there.

Actually, I just tried to register online, and the entry fee would be $80 for both days plus a $40 late fee, so I'm not going to participate in this one considering that I can only go one day. And that's for 3 runs each day since its a national event.

I will update the list thanks, I will be leaving from Port Washington around 7:00am to go to the first (WI) meeting point @ Brookfield Square Mall. Maybe I will see yall on the way there or we can plan to meet up somewhere in Mequon (around 7:15) and head down to Brookfield Square Mall together if you want, just let me know.

Nah, too many meeting points to deal with, we'll just meet you at the mall. What store are we gonna be by? Oh and by the way, there are actually 3 cars in my little group, not 2 as I said before. I decided to drive rather than ride shotgun with my friend. :)

We will be meeting in the SEARS Parking lot near the red light (Southeast corner of mall parking lot). Good idea driving your own car this is gonna be a fun ride on the twistys. How many Subarus in your group? I think one is gonna be a Mustang right?

Yep, the reason we need to leave @ 8:00am sharp is because the Mapquest (link in post #1 this thread) says it'll take 1hour and 39min to get to New Glarus. That puts us there around 9:45am which is when the IL folk will arrive.

I suggest everyone clicks the Mapquest link and prints a copy for themselves incase they get separated or need to stop on the way. Again, I do not plan on stopping anywhere until we reach the New Glarus brewery.

I'll be meeting at Brookfield Square. 2005 Arctic Silver Saab 9-2x Aero. Might have a buddy meet us there as well in a 2007 Black Honda Accord V6 6MT.

I updated you on the list murdoc158. I need to find out who has GPS in their because I need to assign team leaders for the drive.

Everyone should read the last few pages of the summer drive thread to make sure we all understand how this will work. :)

Here's a few key points I copy/pasted: (written by f1anatic, the organizer of this event)

Ok. I would like to know one thing. Who is officially in charge of the Wisconsin troops for this meet ? Is that you ZZZTECH ? I would prefer it is you since you seem a very no-nonsense kind of guy, unlike some others.

I have no idea how you will organize your people BUT I would prefer if set things straight here. As far as I can tell there will be a number of you coming from different places and all meeting in New Glarus.

Once in New Glarus - since you will likely arrive before we do, I want you to select one of you guys to be the designated TEAM LEADER (a guy with a GPS and walkie talkies). Yes, please share the walkie talkies among yourselves, just like we will do. Also , please have another member with GPS and walkie talkies fill the role of Caboose.

If you are familiar with how I am organizing the things, I plan on having key people at certain positions within the convoy as to ensure we all know where we are going and the convoy will not split up. I know that you personally do not have a GPS based on the spreadsheet but I would like you to mark those cars with NAVI with a dot (I have for instance a yellow tape from which I will cut little pieces and stick them to the back windows of all cars.). I want you to mark the TEAM LEADER and the CABOOSE with 2 dots, on both the front and the back windows, such as they are visible yet to not impair the driver's visibility.

I am asking this because I will have a command structure in place and I want us to seamlessly integrate and work as if we all left from the same place. I do not want in New Glarus to establish the hierarchy and the command structure once again. It is all very simple actually: I want TEAM LEADERS - clearly marked and evenly spread thru-out the convoy, each one followed by 5-6 cars (with or without gps). All team leaders have walkie talkies and navi and they know where they are going and will drive knowing they are responsible for several of the cars behind them: stop at lights, intersections, railroads etc.

My guy who is running CABOOSE will still be the last guy in the convoy after we meet.

I also want ALL of you to refuel in New Glarus. We will NOT stop for gas anywhere else before Madison - though I do recognize the fact that some of you living close by do not have to refuel and may not come to Madison with us.

I leave it up to you guys to decide, but i feel it is important that when we meet we do not have organizational issues.

Thanks.

Yeah...the walkie talkies...please use the same frequency as we do, duh ! On the first page of this thread.

Well, I will have GPS as well as walkie-talkies. If the Accord comes, I'll make sure he brings his GPS and he can use my second walkie-talkie.
