  1. Sales woman accepted a discount today on 4 new Yoko's as resolution. I was glad they made it right without fighting me.
  2. Yeah that's what I ended up demanding from the dealership...cept I asked them for a discount on some decent Yokohama's instead of the stock garbage. SOA gave me a case number which I'm sure can be used for extended warranty stuff.
  3. I called SOA to get their blessing, and now I'll have to go after the dealership to shave the newer tire or heavily discount a set of 4 new ones. Unfortunately it's been this way for 6000 miles . The lesee didn't know or care....
  4. Hello friends. Through an unfortunate set of circumstances completely not our fault, we lost our beloved 2020 WRX. There was no way we could buy a new one exactly as my girl wanted short of waiting 12 weeks or more for overnight cars from Japan....so we have taken delivery of a new to us, 2018 3.6R. Yes, now there are two in the family. Getting to my point I noticed in the service record a tire had been replaced so I got to measuring and mathing and I didn't like the outcome. Can someone double check my method here and comment? 18 in rims = 451.2mm 225x50 = 112.5mm brand new (sidewall height) Together a new stock setup should measure 569.7. I have no idea how many mm of tread a new tire has but this one has 7mm and the others have 5. Circumference can't be more than 1/4" different, so converted that's 6.35mm C=2Pr, so 284.85x3.14x2=1788.86 new C= 282.85x3.14x2=1776.3 shaved by 2mm. (using radius so I didn't have to solve for more than 2mm) Delta=12.56mm= 1/2" So at this point I'm thinking uh oh...new tires... Right?
  5. The 17 inch is likely for the 3.6R. IIRC they have larger brakes than the 2.5.
  6. Also, thanks for posting this, in the process of checking it for you I caught a mouse in the act....of living in my engine bay. Not cool.
  7. 2019, upstate NY, parked on pavement 60% garaged 40%. I'd say normal.
  8. Looks great! How about some laminix on those tail lights!?
  9. Was really impressed Wednesday when my partner and I got into a pretty bad accident in her WRX. Someone took a left in front of me about 2 seconds before I entered the intersection and there wasn't much time to brake. We hit hard, but only got a little whiplash. I'm not a big "must buy the safest vehicle" guy, but we're very grateful we were in a Subaru. Now we're shopping for her 3rd WRX.
  10. Axle back, lots of volume, a little drone. Tune, about 209 to the wheels based on some software estimates. I think stock is 189. Butt dyno : worth it. FULL exhaust and retune....still waiting on the fabricator. But will provide an update.
  11. Alignment is always a good idea when changing any suspension components.
  12. I imagine they will look nice. As for the tire selection, I have 225s on 8.5s because I had them laying around...not by design. I wouldn't recommend 225s. Lip is too exposed. Go with 245s. As for the offset, I guess the extra inch probably won't be too problematic, but remember you'll still not be anywhere close to flush and you're adding width on the suspension side at that point. From all the time I've been in my wheel well recently I can affirm you likely won't foul on the perch but you might like the look better with +45.
  13. Painted the calipers black last week.... still not sold on not going red, but I wanted subtle. Sure as hell got it.
  14. IIRC the 18s were around 26 lbs, so I imagine the 17s aren't more than a lb lighter.
  15. Yes. Typically whatever it's set at before its turned off it will blow slightly when off. It seems like its just pass through air at that point. Nothing major.
  16. I second this. Anytime I disconnect the battery for work or flash a retune the car has to relearn throttle and calibrate. My tuner confirmed that it was normal. On the other hand when my GF goes in for just an oil change on her WRX, it always feels more happy and willing to her...likely because they are NOT disconnecting the battery.
  17. Haha well it's a car forum so I would imagine there are plenty of car people here, and if they don't like it they can skip to the " why is my maintenance so daunting " threads.
