ebo03's 2011 LGT - BNR 20G, EWGs, custom FMIC, Brembos, Recaro

I forgot to post a pic of the garage flooring I installed about a month ago. It's a little colorful but hey I wanted something different. I also repainted my entire garage and it looks great. I'm very pleased with the end result and must say it was worth the time and effort.

My mechanic friend came over tonight and suggested I slide a thin piece of aluminum between the BOV gasket and flange to see if the BOV is the problem. So I pounded a beer and cut out a piece of the can.

Prior to that we did notice upon startup there is some suction on the open side of the BOV. It's pretty light but still there so maybe it is the BOV after all.

If that's the solution then I'll have a pretty Tial Q valve on soon enough. Going to wait until the AM to see how it behaves.

I loaded the tune from December and the car still idled like shit this morning. I guess it's not the BOV.

Maybe you have an injector that's not working right at low flows. Have you pulled your plugs to make sure they all look the same?

No, haven't checked the plugs or anything fuel related. That will be the next step.

Have you logged the VVT angles to check they're in sync at 1500 rpm and on the freeway? It's a useful step in stumble diagnosis :)

I have not.

IAG just notified me I'm scheduled for July 11. Hoping to put this shit to rest this time around.

Fuel pressure was steady so they eliminated the likelihood of an issue with the fuel system. The tech said in his 7 years there he has seen one FPR go bad and they have had zero issues with ID injectors.

So they installed a MAF sensor on the current intake and retuned in hybrid mode. It appears that this has resolved the issue. The tuning took all afternoon due to a couple issues they ran into on the dyno. Cobb BOV was opening way too early. They tightened the spring and then had to add a shim in to keep it closed longer. Cleo's laptop also crashed multiple times so that didn't help at all.

The surging was gone Thursday morning when it was cold but I'm going to give it a few more days before I am convinced that I'm truly in the clear on this one.

I removed the piece of intercooler piping, cut off the 05-09 LGT flange that was on it, and widened the hole to accept a Tial flange. I dropped it off with a welder on Friday so I'm hoping to have it back today or tomorrow. I'm gone for 5 days starting on Wednesday so if I don't have it by tomorrow then it will have to wait until next week.

Here's the latest...

I installed a Prova steering wheel a few weeks ago. The feel is amazing with the Alcantara.

I got in touch with a few interior shops to get a custom shift boot to match the Prova wheel. JPM Coachworks was not interested in doing custom work at the moment. I got prompt responses from Redline Goods, Zealous Interiors, and Overland Designs who were all interested in making a boot. Redline did not have the color of Alcantara that I wanted. It would have been $130 in additional material cost for Redline to custom order 9052 grey Alcantara.

In the end I decided to go with Zealous Interiors. I shipped my OEM boot and plastic bracket to the owner, Andrew, and within 2 business days he shipped out the custom boot. He had not previously made a boot for a 5th gen Legacy so he needed a template. In the future, 5th gen guys will not have to do this. I should have the boot within a couple of days but I will be gone so I won't be able to install it until early next week.

I dropped my car off at IAG on Saturday 9/5. I'm scheduled to pick it up on Sunday 9/13. Still looking for the idle issue. My money is that it is a leak from the metal plate on the TGVs. If that's what it is then I'll get a black set of their TGV deletes and a retune. Stay tuned for updates...

^^have you considered darkening your steering wheel control trim say a charcoal or black. With that new wheel the silver really pops out at you. The wheel looks awesome though!

I have considered going to black for all interior pieces but since the JDM console is slightly different for RHD I decided not to bother with the shifter trim and cup holders. Either the 12 or 13 model years have black steering wheel controls. But the plastic surrounding the controls is still silver so I don't really think it's worth it.

if you don't mind me asking, how much was the boot from Zealous?

Not sure yet. I think he is letting me install it to verify fitment before invoicing me since it's the first 5th gen LGT he has made. I think he normally charges $65 for Alcantara. He offered me $15 off since I let him keep my OEM boot.

I also asked him to attach the new boot to the plastic bracket just like OEM so he was going to charge me $10 for the additional labor. So it should be $60 all in for me. FWIW, Redline's boots do not come with holes pre-punched for install.

Andrews customer service is great. He is quick to respond to emails and was nice enough to send me sample books so I could color match the Alcantara to the wheel.

Custom boot didn't turn out as expected and there were fitment issues so I decided to go with the tried and true boot from Redline Goods. All black Alcantara with red stitching on the inside seams and medium gray stitching on the outside seams.

I updated my mod list on page 1. Quite a bit has changed in two years.

My current mission is to get a Recaro Sportster CS driver seat and retain the side airbag. Euro spec Sportster CS comes with an optional airbag. US spec seat does not. However, the OEM airbag from 15 WRX seats can be swapped into the US spec seat. Myles from RCE did just that.

The tricky part is finding a shop who is willing to toy with the airbag. RCE does not install seats in street cars. The shop who actually performed the airbag swap for the RCE shop car also declined the job. It is unknown if this is even possible for our 5th gen airbag.

I might be looking at buying a Euro spec seat from overseas. I've seen one website and actually the price including shipping is very reasonable (relatively speaking of course). Only about $250 more than the non-airbag US spec model according to the website.

Here's the website for the Dutch shop:

These look to have Alcantara inserts instead of full leather but too sexy not to post.

Hope to have the driver seat in a couple weeks.[emoji106]

The vendor placed the order with Recaro today. Looks like it's going to be 4-6 weeks. Not surprised since I chose leather and they're coming from Germany.
