My E85 Raptor SC 2.5i build

Recommended Posts

well she has a full tank of e85 and is running. I drove around the block very slowly and its pretty smooth and whiney :)

2am so only working with a flashlight, but my intercooler has one small fitting leak, my boost gauge reads ambient at all times, my cel is on and cruise is flashing. smoking a lil out of the exhaust too but I expected that.

Cel was for it running rich. Good deal

I'm babying it, it doesn't like to idle coming back down from higher rpm.. When coming coming to a stoplight, etc.. Bogs down a bit during acceleration some but it's still way quicker than before :)

oh the exhaust smells like beer haha

I have concerns with the MAF location, at least with the stock MAF... but I could be wrong.

What do you have controlling the water pump? Does it run all the time?

Do you have a water filler port at the top of your lines, or are you using a reservoir? Just make sure you bleed the air out.

Props for taking on a brave project.

What issues would I have with the MAF location?

The pump runs when the key is on, but I plan on installing a switch in the future.

I don't have a filler cap right now, I filled it with a long hose using gravity to help. Not perfect I know but it's the best I can do until I find a tank I like.

It was not designed for a blow-through setup. Potentially non-consistent turbulence post SC which might be hard to tune around. You could see some hesitations or non-smooth acceleration? I have no clue, every setup is different, and this one is certainly unique. Just my first thought when I saw it.

Regarding the water pump, I'm not sure anything is wrong about running the pump all the time if you hooked it up to ignition 12v. The best is to run it off delta IAT, the true indicator of your intercooler performance. But, that requires custom gadgetry and smarts. And its overkill probably.

Good points, they make sense.. I've just been going along with the Raptor kit instructions. I guess we will see how it goes when I go in for my dyno tune.

The intercooler seems to do quite well, I drove around for a while last night and my under hood temps were roughly 125 according to my trans temp sensor that is just zip tied under there.. And the intercooler is ice cold to the touch. The pump doesn't get hot either.

I stopped by the exhaust shop today and had new 2.5" pipe welded in place of the oem pipe. They wouldn't remove the 2nd cat but the larger pipe and open y-pipe gave me some more boxer rumble :)

*edit* it sounds more raspy in this video than in person, for some reason. its just deep and rumbly(is that a word??) in person.

I previously just had the oem pipe with Magnaflow mufflers and Vibrant resonator. The shop did a terrible job lining the tips up in the cutouts, so I had all new pipe done today and it looks/sounds much better.

New photos of the gauges. I think I got a bad sender for the boost gauge. I have verified the wiring and the vacuum plumbing and it all seems fine, but the gauge stays pegged at 30"Hg

Boost gauge works now. I rewired both gauges to the cigarette lighter below the stereo, and guy at Prosport said the clock harness voltage varies too much for two gauges to work. Now my temp reading flashes '97 but the bottom of the 7 is cut off. Odd
