MrHellrais3R
the apr head bolts have been on back order for months. There's a VERY long line of people waiting lol. I was lucky to get mine with in a few days some how. as for the tgv deletes, did you buy the jdm ones or did you have a shop modify yours? the modification is ultimately cheaper than buying new ones, especially already having the engine apart. Just curious as to which route you went.
jblackwell1
found apr bolts on a forum luckily. TGV deletes i bought them off nasioc and kept my stockers just incase i have idle problems i can swap the stock back in to see if it fixes the problem. Got my tgv deletes today actually, look great im happy with them. I might get pics of all the boxes i have just full of all my parts. I barely have room to move in my garage now! jblackwell1
It is! I will be enjoying this some time over the next 9 months. Itll be christmas when i have the money to send you my headlights to mod haha. But yea its exciting right now but im ready to start putting stuff in, just waiting on oil pan and head studs right now and itll be game time. Im gonna make a list in a bit of EVERYTHING ive bought for the car so far. Lots of work ahead of me to get this done in 3 weeks. We will see. IDRVSLO
I am guessing you are on summer vacation based on the frequency of posts and time line for assembly. I am in the same boat if that is the case. I just do not have the time or funds to buy the new block. The machine shop would take 3-4 weeks to get my block completed. So the drop and go solution is on the plate. I would be interested in seeing your build list and prices when completed. Any luck on the turbo shopping? Just let me know on the lights! We could work out a little trade if you wanted......PM me for some details....we could get them done before you are completed. I am interested in a little item that you are selling. jblackwell1
Working with a guy now to get a 3076. Well see what happens but im hopeful that it will go through in the next day or two. I have an excel sheet with everything ive bought (i think) and prices ive paid. Ive saved a lot of money by going used on what i can and josh at import image has given me great deals on items i wanted new. I am on summer vacation but also have class once a week in cincinnati and working 40-50 hours a week. Im going to take off my last week of summer to make sure the car is buttoned up and ready to go to cincy where my tools will be much more limited. Right now im reading a book for class and getting on here allows me to not do that haha.

MrHellrais3R
oh I know how it is to be a student and build your car up lol. I've some how spent north of 14k on my car since january and still am not done with it yet. I've used only cash though, not into throwing my self into debt. However not everyone has that option. You just have to search for good deals really. There's not way around the cost of everything, but you can help offset that with bargain shopping or buying used. It helps out a lot. Dont get me wrong this is still costing me.... too much. But its pretty reasonable for the end product and the fun to come 6 speed swap this time next year
doccrowley
you should've bought an STi in the first place if you're now considering a 6 spd swap next summer. For the cash you've spent already, you would've been way ahead by now. Then again, I've just spent 8K on my LGT wagon motor and tranny and just blew my radiator and toasted my alternator when it blew, yesterday! Haven't even finalized the tune yet, and more repairs coming my way!! I understand your love of this car, told my wife I didn't want to drive another so there went all the money into this one! keep up the great work! MrHellrais3R
Yes I agree, doing all of your own work saves you most of the money. Now that I look back on it, I'm kind of second guessing my choice of having my tuner build my engine. Not because of his skill or anything, he's very good and has plenty of proven power, but for the cost. However, he did cut me a huge deal compared to what it would cost normally so I figured I'd jump on that. I'm taking two summer semesters and been pretty busy so an engine build at this time wouldn't really be feasible. six speed eh? Yeah I plan on doing one of those in the future as well. While your at it, look into a helical front lsd. You'll thank your self later after installing it ;-) You can find them at rallitek and they're a oem subaru part. you should've bought an STi in the first place if you're now considering a 6 spd swap next summer. For the cash you've spent already, you would've been way ahead by now. This is true but honestly, insurance for the STi is way over priced. I'm easily saving 200-300/mo with the amount of coverage having a legacy. Hell, I had a beater sebring before this for about a year to save money and the insurance was more for that than my legacy lol. (same coverage) I understand that for the same money you can get a little more power or not have to spend as much since certain parts are already upgraded like mounts and tranny, ect. But actually having a TRUE sleeper and not drawing attention is nice. Everyone has a wrx or STi, but you don't see worked LGT's everywhere. I feel that people who do work to their LGT have more style and finesse thank their STi/WRX counterparts. Hell, I even had a friend of mine (who has an STi) tell me that a stock sti can make 400awhp. I laughed in his face and told him to go on his way. I feel the LGT community is honestly more knowledgeable because we are smaller and the dedicated few. jblackwell1
I didn't plan on doing all of this for a few years until the motor blew. But I still prefer lgt over sti
compsurge
My motto: Do what makes you happy. It's your money and your decision. I think we all love our LGTs and their idiosyncrasies I plan on keeping mine for a while.
jblackwell1
Not much to up date. Should have the cubby pod mounted today w the aem wideband ran and mounted. also planning on doing the fuel pump today and possibly rear sway and short throw. brum
Well I put in the Kartboy SS, we dicked around with the Walbro for a bit, pulled the shit piston out of the old block to realize that the old block wasn't too screwed up. I might end up with it and sending it off for a build when my shit goes. We'll see.
jblackwell1
what he said^. Got the ss installed for me in like 20 mins which was nice cause i didnt have to do it haha. Also got the fuel pump ready to put back in once the proper o rings come. Did some trimming on the cubby mount to make it fit properly and got the old motor stripped the rest of the way so im ready to take everything to the machine shop once my freaking head studs come in. heres some pictures of the new short block, and the hilarious parts that came out of the old one. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2/jeeped07/Legacy%20GT%20Build/003-3.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2/jeeped07/Legacy%20GT%20Build/005-3.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2/jeeped07/Legacy%20GT%20Build/019-2.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2/jeeped07/Legacy%20GT%20Build/022-2.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e2/jeeped07/Legacy%20GT%20Build/023-2.jpg
lieutenantcolumbo
Sweet looking block. That's some carnage on the piston and rod. Make sure you get a good tune to avoid that kind of mayhem with the new motor. Staying tuned for future results!
