someone else posted something like this earlier but seems to be lost, i have a 2010 2.5i PZEV... does this do anything to reduce the performance of the car? does anyone know how it reduces the emissions to 10% of its other 2.5i engines? and what can be done to up engine HP, with out damageing any of The PZEV systems?

any body know where i can pick up a wiring harness for my 09 legacy with the harmon kardon system?

good luck with that. I think it'll be far too much work than just adding an amp/subs. the harmon kardon setup doesn't sound much, if any better than my 07 stock stuff. the only real gain IMO is the sub on the rear deck. far easier to get an aftermarket sub/amp combo. probably cheaper too.

i updated #7 to include the cams kit for people who really want to

It looks like Rallitek recommends a new spring kit along with the cam, so it would cost $1300 (+ at least 4 hours of labor?)

Rallitek also says this about their lightweight crank pulley:

"..Weighing only 1.0lbs, it is almost 5lbs lighter then stock. This is also the lightest crank pulley on the market. This gives you quicker throttle response as well as more horsepower and torque. Reducing rotating mass results in better performance."

^^I'm almost set on going for the spacers. I already have the pulley and the hybrid intake. I'm just worried about screwing something up lol, any suggestions on what to look out for during the install? I don't have a lift so I have no clue how I should approach this.

Did you get the Grimmspeed spacer yet?

I'm close to pulling the trigger and maybe get the lightweight pulley too.

Any feedback on which pulley is best? Re: install I'm just going to take it to the dealer cause it might help with any warranty issues if they do the labor.

Nahhh ive been working on modding the interior lights and possibly picking up another grille for a DIY project. I don't think I'm gonna go for the spacers anytime soon. I got the Group N pulley, noticed a nice difference in acceleration when it was first installed...now....I don't really notice it, guess I have gotten used to the change.

Since i didn't see any of this in here, I figured I would also put the info out as it can be helpful. I also wrote this for the Wheels/tire subsection.

TIRES

There seems to be quite a few threads dealing with damaged or blown tires to where they need to be replaced and how many do they need. I am going to expand on this.

My experience on this issue is being in the Automotive industry for 6 years and as a Subaru Service advisor. I have also worked in the tire markets as a certified Michelin/BFG Salesman.

Also, the info I am giving you is my view and facts on this subject from first hand knowledge and the failures of the AWD system due to this. If you disagree with it, then so be it, it is your car and your money. I have seen plenty of failures and people end up forking over to me their money because they made the mistake.

Whenever you have to replace any tire on a Subaru, you must measure the circumference of the new tire when it is mounted. Then you measure the old tires. If there is more than a 1/4 inch of difference in the measurements, you should replace the other tires.

Folks, do NOT let the 1/32nds or 3/32nds rule fool you. That is not the correct method and it will cost you transfer clutches. Normally the 1/4inch threshold is around 15,000 miles, but I have seen a forester make it to 19,000 and still be within 1/4 inch.

If you do not do this, you are increasing the chances of damaging the transfer clutches/center diff or prematurely wearing them out on your awd. Automatics tend to be more prone to this than manuals. It isn't really a matter of if it happens, but more of a when.

Hope this clears up any confusion on whether you need all new tires or not.

Also proper tire rotation's and frequent alignments(I recommend once a year) help prevent irregular wear on the tires. Lack of rotations can also cause awd problems as well.

Yeah and I think the donut spare really could wreak havoc on the AWD and alignment.

Do most Subaru dealers handle alignments? I'd rather go there than a regular alignment shop with less experience with AWD vehicles.

I would imagine they do. Every dealership I have worked at does.

I know we also can do alignments on lowered vehicles(to an extent, but factory specs only). I also have 2 other shops that can do customer alignments on lower cars that I send some customers to.

well you're suppose to pull the fuse when you put the spare on according to the manual so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. fix-a-flat foam is always worth a try

but in any case. i updated the FAQ with some info on the exedy clutches. let me know if the info i posted is correct

thanks blackfang for the tire info again
