FAQ: Subaru Legacy 2.5i

install guide is here:

Looks like it may take a while to install. Btw, are you using any aftermarket end links or brackets for your Rallitek sway set?

Yeahh aftermarket Rallitek endlinks in the rear! I haven't looked under the car lately, so I have no clue whats going on down there. I think my front endlinks are still holding up, no unusually clunking that I have noticed.

that intake gasket by grimmspeed is only advertised to work on the LGT.. does the intake bolt up to the motor the same way? is it the same IM?

we have members on here running it on their 2.5i so it fits for sure

i don't see why the LGT would even need them since they have plastic intake manifolds that don't nearly heat up as much during normal engine operation

^ yeah I saw they had a non-turbo part

SOA probably would honor warranty as long as no claims were made to related parts such as intake manifold, etc.

Maybe if I had a Subaru dealer install the spacer they might be cool with it. But I can see them trying to make excuses to not honor engine warranty potentially if any mods were done to engine area.

another question, i have been doing some research on the "boxer rumble" and i have found tons of hits on uel headers by borla and GTspec.. it says in the writeup that theres a group by going on (looks like its custom).. is the borla and gtspec headers an option, or will these only work with alot of modification.. im really interested

^^really?? geez i thought you had the stock 2.5i manifold for sale, oops. Well if these guys don't carry the borla replica (having got an order confirmation yet), im sure ill consider yours. Don't know if it will be that cheap to get it modded though. I went to Meineke the other day and they wanted $300 bucks for a custom y-pipe, yikes.

I was on the phone with Eibach the other day, and the guy told me that the springs would not allow for the same drop as they do in the GT due to the weight differences. Is there really a significant weight difference? Or is this really just something they have to say to protect against customers having problems with a fraction of an inch difference?

Besides, "obsessive" is just a term the lazy use for people that are thorough

As far as lowering springs goes, anything used on the GT can be used on te 2.5i no problem. Our cars are a little lighter than the GT/Spec.B, but there's gonna be a very marginal difference. It's like the difference between having a passenger and not having one.

I've had springs that were "meant for a GT" for over a year now without any issues.

How's the performance with that intake? You removed the entire air panel...wow. I think driving in the rain/snow might be an issue unless you install some sort of sheild?

I'm waiting to see how Hanger likes the Zero Sports custom intake for our 2.5i. He had to special order it.

I guys,

I'm new on here

My dad just bought an 06' legacy 2.5i which I think is a lot more fun than our old 98' legacy but it needs more power.

I was thinking about getting an air intakes system.

I've been looking around and only seem to find short ram intakes.

Is there anyway The cold air intakes on the GTs can work for the 2.5i's??

If no, can any of you point my in a good direction for short ram intakes??

Thanks for your help and great info so far!!

Welcome. I don't think you'll really see a noticeable increase in power from an intake. I have an AVO filter and the Spectre hybrid intake mod on my car, and I don't notice any difference while driving the car. I did my mods with the hope of increasing fuel economy, and I think it's working, but I don't have enough real-world data yet to make claims one way or the other.

Check out the first page of this thread regarding some mods which may provide some increase in power.

the intake piping is different on the GTs due to the turbocharging, so none of the intakes are compatible. but most would just suggest sticking with a panel filter since there can be issues with the ram intakes which are briefly discussed on the first post as well
