do the AVO filters make the car sound any cooler??

I guys, I'm new on here My dad just bought an 06' legacy 2.5i which I think is a lot more fun than our old 98' legacy but it needs more power. I was thinking about getting an air intakes system. I've been looking around and only seem to find short ram intakes. Is there anyway The cold air intakes on the GTs can work for the 2.5i's?? If no, can any of you point my in a good direction for short ram intakes?? Thanks for your help and great info so far!!
