+1 I went with a DIY mini fridge that fits two kegs and a co2 bottle with a dual tap tower on the top. I love it but if I had it to do over I would do a chest freezer conversion.

+2

I also did the min-fridge (samsung iirc). I really like it, but it'd be nice to have the chest freezer since it fits a lot more kegs. Right now I can only hold two on tap at any time. Chest freezers can hold 4+ depending on their size

New to this forum, but I've been home brewing for almost 2 years now. Started with a basic 2 stage fermentation kit, and bottling 16oz bottles (that got old REALLY quick.) Switched to kegging the 5gal batches and built a big kegerator out of an old fridge to hold 4 brews at once. Then I got tired of the underlying 'home brew taste' with extract brewing and just recently switched to all-grain brewing, using the standard igloo containers. It's true what everyone says, you can start cheap, but if you're serious about the hobby, it gets expensive quick!

Now it's time to upgrade the equipment again, for better heat control and circulation. Planning on piecing together a system similar to the SABCO RIMS brewery system. Been looking at brewing software recently too, and saw that Beer Smith has a new version out, so I anticipate picking that up shortly. After 2 years, I still consider myself a novice, and I'm learning more with each batch we do, but more control and freedom for experimentation has led me to the more advanced all-grain system...plus I think it's more fun than extract. For the time being I'm planning on sticking with the 5gal batches since there's only so many people around to drink the stuff, but I plan on picking up a few more carboys and kegs, to have more fermenting and conditioning at once. Anyway, just wanted to say hello to the fellow home brewers out there. Here's a couple pics of what my setup is, and what I plan to get shortly.

Here is the ESB recipe per whiskey's request.

I'm going to do this as my first home brew this weekend.

Yea, definitely needs a late hop addition. You're not going to get any hop flavor, just a little bitterness. If you want to keep it simple since it's your first attempt, keep the extract and grain the same and up the hops. Maybe just add 1oz at 5 or 10 minutes.

+1 for beersmith! It's a great tool.

The ESB I make is borderline english IPA, so I use 1oz of east kent golding at 60, 20, 10, and 5.

Oh yeah I don't plan to brew esb's my whole life!

I'm a big fan of hoppy beers mostly. I'm starting to get more into stouts and other darker beers. That is one of the biggest reasons I decided to start home brewing is so I could experiment with different styles of beers and really explore and diversify my pallet.

I'm thinking I might try a fruit beer soon to see what I can find that I like in that category. So far there is only one that I've liked and that's the Ruby ale from McMenamins. I also want to try a stout soon. Maybe an oatmeal stout of some sorts.
