Hello All,

Here are a couple of our '02 Leg GT in Regatta Red after I was hit in rush hour traffic by a driver who was waved thru stopped traffic. I was headed South bound on Highway 99 in Seattle just above 90th NW at about 25 MPH when the driver hit me and pushed me into the pole. I tried to brake and turn but there wasn't enough time. I was luckily slowing down for a red light other wise the impact on the telephone pole would have been much worse! Both air bags deployed right on time.

I have now been in two serious accidents in Subarus and can't say enough about their safety. Both myself and my 6 Month old Newfoundland puppy Taj walked away only mildly shaken and smelling of air bag charge.

This is LegGTLT's former car which I bought off him prior to his '05 GRP GT. I have now used the insurance $$$ to purchase my '05 OBP GT Wagon...Sorry to say it but, I think I like the new one WAY more!

i stopped at a stop sign. the 2002 expedition with il plates 704 2410 decided he did not need to and rear ended my car. we got out asked if each other was ok. i suggested pulling into the gas station to exchange info and i pulled in and he got on the freeway. i chased his ass down and cought up with him within in 2 miles. (stage 2 for the mother freaking win) (also squealing all 4 tires for the win!)

i decided to drop the car off at the body shop friday. claims are prossessing from his insurance company and the police department. waiting to find out the outcome. right now im driving a 2008 nissan sentra. what a boring car

Saturday 01/20/08, someone turns left in front of me thinking they had a green arrow... Despite the fact I had already entered the intersection.

Are the police trying to get him for hit/run? Sometimes if they catch the guy quickly enough they are happy with just sternly reminding them to swap insurance details. I thnk they should be charged regardless, if they try to flee responsibility...

A friend a work was rear-ended by a car that pretended to pull over but then pulled a u-turn and split before they could get the plate#. The vehicle was pretty distinctive, and it had left the first 3 digits 'stamped' into the back bumper. Police say too many matches on description/partial plate for them to send a cruiser out to figure out which one it was.

But then she saw the same distinctive vehicle a month later... 2 days ago. She got the full plate this time, and it matched the partial they got earlier. They are waiting for a call from the police to see if they can go get insurance details from him. They don't expect hit/run charges because she never got a good look at the drvier.

That sucks dude... someone tried that on me once as well.

They slid into my drivers side when it was snowing. "Pulled over" around a corner and over a block away. Funny thing is they decided to do that once I pulled a u-turn and started after them. "Oh, we just wanted to get out of the street." Suuuuure, that's whay your Honda was fishtailing everywhere as you tried to gun it around the corner and down the street. I just creeped up right behind you flashing my brights and honking. Ended up getting false info and having to file a hit and run. Cost me $100 since I had the plates, vehicle descrption, and a drivers license number. :spin:

Ouch. I got false info from a guy in an accident one time - the address he gave me was for a vacant house. Went to the police with the license numebr and they were like; "yeah, this license plate is valid and the name is the same, but the addy is different and the law doesn't allow us to hand it out." My insurance company wouldn't help me because I was liability only, and they wouldn't even help me track down the other driver from his license plate (they have that ability!)

I was lucky, though, because the other driver concocted a version of the story that put ME at fault when he made a claim against his own insurance company for his wrecked car. The fake story prompted the insurance company to contact ME with a demand for payment. Once I had the REAL insurance company name and policy number (from the demand letter) I was able to make my own claim. I was able to provide evidence backing up MY version of events - Not only did I successfully defend against his claim, but I got paid out in full for my own damages.

His greed took him from a hit/run (by false details) where he was in the clear and I couldn't trace him, to winding up having to pay for MY car.

Was your evidence a filed police report or what? That's impressive to get it swung 180 like that...

We were in adjacent lanes, but his lane was backed up and mine was clear. He pulled out of the line of stationary traffic as I was passing and we collided. My car was forced completely (all 4 wheels!) up onto the sidewalk. My Volvo 240 had only suspension damage (from hitting the high curb) and a scuffed bumper. His VW Golf was totalled due my bumper flattening every single body panel on the side of he car.

He claimed the lane I was using was a bus-only lane, and that he changed lane just as the lane turned back into a normal lane. He further claimed he had no legal responsibility to check if the lane was clear becasse he had 'no reasonable expectation' that someone would be driving a car 'illegally' in a bus-only lane.

After hearing his version of the story I figured I had to disprove two things...

1) Was it a bus-only lane?

2) Was he making a legal lane change at the end of the 'bus lane'?

1) I went to the scene and took pictures of the bus lane markings and sign. I was able to prove that the lane is marked as Bus-Only during rush hour (accident happened at 2pm)

2) Both of our statements to the insurance company stated that my car was forced "all-4-wheels" onto the sidewalk after we collided. My pictures showed that there was a barrier on the edge of the sidewalk that started just before the end of the marked bus lane, and continued past the next intersection. It was impossible for my car to be forced onto the sidewalk at the end of the bus lane because the barrier would have blocked it. That proved that the location of the accident was before the end of the marked bus lane, contradicting his claim.

However, his insurance agreed that the location of the accident and the bus lane markings were irrelevant to the claim because it wasn't a bus lane at the time of the accident. Therefore, by default, his statement that he made a lane change without checking made him 100% at fault.

I got a quote from Volvo for all new parts an installation and it came to $2500. They paid the value of my car ($2k) and I was able to fix the car for a couple hundred bucks in junkyard suspension parts (control arm etc) and new bushings. I pocketed the difference.

Here are the shots from my snow-related accident on Dec 1 of last year during an impromptu snow drive with a few other forum members (you can see them in one of the pics). Details available in this thread, pictures of interest are included below.

Total cost of repairs: $2600, and could climb higher. Apparently my right front coilover is now running at 2 degrees positive camber, and I overlooked the custom parts coverage on my policy (didn't expect to catch the modding bug so quickly) so I'll have to deal with that out of pocket. I installed them with a friend's help so I'll try to figure out a fix before I shell out the big bucks to a professional.

The closest tire tracks are from the rear wheels, the back end broke loose on some snow-covered black ice in the right shoulder. I wasn't going over 25 mph but it still happened so fast. Instinct kicked in and I steered into the skid (thanks Dad) so I averted spinning out completely, which would have had me facing backwards in that ditch with a lot more damage.

Saved by a kind stranger with an ex-NATO MB G-Class. Awesome rig, check out the snorkel on the drivers side A-pillar. You can see the other LGT.com drivers behind him.

Impact crater with my customized plate snapped off (someone turned it over for this picture). I just got them a week before this happened...ugh.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.
