this is the car fixed.... a body shop, which came highly recomended, didn't do a great job... the paint didnt match the first time, the second time they got closer, but still, not a great job. still a lot of orange peel and the mud flaps are starting to peel and crack, and the car was never aligned properly after the accident, nor was the suspension fixed properly. would never use that body shop again.

I'm sorry about that man. I was SOOOO close to being rear ended in my car (05 Legacy GT MT for sale), but it was raining out and I stood in my driveway and said, should I drive the Legacy or the Escalade. And my father wasn't home, I knew he would have made me drive the Caddy, so I ended up driving that instead.... turns out, right in front of my house, I get rear ended in the Caddy. I was so pissed considering my dad tried to keep it so clean. The result? My dad being happy I drove that and suffered a bent bumper, $1800 dollars worth of damage which I didn't have to pay for. The culprit? A 2005/06 Altima which had to be towed away on a flatbed....... and the guy had to give it back the next week because it was on a lease. Sucks for him. Not to sway from the topic here, but what kind of bracket do you have for your license plate, I noticed that and it was pretty interesting!!

Well, I was at a light ready to make a U-turn. The light turned green so I let off the break and tapped the gas. [i didnt realize it, but my wheel was turned all the way due to the fact youd have to turn to get into that turning lane] So I pressed the gas, and it pulled a hard turn directing me into the median curb. It was pretty bad. =/

The impact of hitting the curb actually broke the wheel/rim off the bolts. Leaving the spokes of the rim on the bolts. The tire popped out hitting the fender, denting it. I could only open the door ajar. The damage: I need a new rim, tire, fender, maybe an axle and cv joint. Which may have been bent.

I used a couple of Bell angled plate brackets that I picked up from Autozone. drilled into the back of the bumper support and used one bracket to drop down off the back of the bumper suppport and half of one bracket bolted to the first one. I then used two pieces of steel that I had from an old desk chair ( that happened to have the same bolt size and threading) cut and ground them down to matching dimensions, then bolted the other half of the bracket to the arms and the plate to the bracket. it's easily removable and adjustable. I can take the plate off pretty easily. I want to replace the steel with aluminum and replace the bolts with better pieces. I didn't take pics of the creation. I'll have to take other pics of it later

saw this wreck in St Lucia (or Antigua, can't remember), in the Virgin Islands. The average income of a resident of the island is less than 8000 a year. this was the only Scooby I saw on the island, a RHD jdm LGT turbo wagon. not a huge need for awd down there. or cars this big. all that JDM goodness mangled....

sorry to get off topic, but this was just ridiculous.... no where to 4 wheel on the island, no need for a truck this big... yet here it was a lifted Ford ( only an F150). the rims and tires alone would have fed a family for a year... nice looking truck but just too much of a sign of wealth in an area where it's not needed

Was the passenger wearing the seatbelt?

I was wondering the same thing because of the crack in the widnshield.

Yeah we both were wearing our seatbelts, its the force of the airbag that cracked the windshield. the body shop thinks its totalled because theres damage to the engine. estimate over $5k alone on just the engine.

Are you always this critical of how other people spend their money?

nope, not usually. I'm more surprised that there is that much money to be spent there...

i had a similar experience w/ a body shop's quality of work .... a local place, i think they have a location in Peekskill...

I won't mention the name of the place, as mine might have been an isolated incident. I was quite dissapointed though considering they came highly recomended.

There are probably a couple-hundred folks who think the same way... "MY" car was an isolated incident? How do you know unless you share the name and give other folks a chance to say; "I've been there and they were great to me" or "Yes, they messed up my car too."

this is kind of what i was getting at.... i dropped the location so that people might inquire if necessary. my issue was w/ a vendor here.

Toronto, ~ 60km/hr crash into a car running a red light. (T- boned a Camry.)

Why I told my wife to forget the Mini Cooper and get a safe car.

She walked away (with some whiplash only!). 3 Airbags deployed.

Complete write off. I think the car crumpled as it was supposed to.

Replaced with an '08 QSM.

Glad to hear that she was OK!

How do you like the '08?

Wife backed into a pole less than two months after I bought the car.

When the weather is good and my car is clean I will take a pic of the latest paint rub she had with another car that she didn't see in the lane she suddenly changed into.

Ditch those bumper guards.
