Finally a DIY front lip!

I think its friggen brilliant. We pay such crazy prices for some things not nearly as well designed. Clear your mind that its garage door seal for a moment. It looks almost like a JDM lip , its likely close to indistructable and it cost $10.

No we would rather pay $350 for a fiberglass / hard plastic lip that is doomed to be busted in no time.

I say not Ghetto , I say brilliant.

Here's my ghetto Frost King front lip..been on at 140mph...made it thought this entire New England Winter, but I'm ghetto because I know 3 WRX/STi's that all have cracked the "real" lips this winter..whatever:spin:

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. I'm really trying to think of a way to do it so that it wraps up along the side just a little bit, a la JDM STi lip.

I'll post if I figure that out.

My friend did his a long time ago to his lude, and we were gonna do it to my old car an Accord. He made a fatter lip though. Using Landscape edging. We called it the Mugarden Lip

I would like to see what it looks like mounted UNDER the bumper..not above.

That would be easy but I'm sure it would get the reception some got when first mentioning it. I've goot all the supplies to do the Frost King DIY lip but I'm also going to give it a nice coat of flexible paint to make it a little less flat looking. I'll post some pictures and measurements ASAP.

I should get it done before the SRP BBQ next weekend...

Heres a finished pic of it. Looks good on the lude because the front bumper is cut straight on the bottom so its flush all the way around without any bends.

Great cheap aero for track use. Hell, not a lot different than what some track cars use to save money on constant front lip repairs.

On a street car..... not as much. Especially since it is such a drastic change from the side rockers.

The Door Seal lip is a pretty effective scrub guard. If only there were a way to keep from losing that straight bottom edge when our bumpers roll up in the middle.......

I'm going to use some aluminum bar stock from Lowe's to keep the bottom on a single line, then fill in the gap in the middle of the bumper with some black door molding foam. That's the plan.

sry guys, i need a little bit of a walk though. I get the tape and everything, but how do i place the plastic, its there a right and wrong side to face. Just dont want to F up, i thougt after 2 years someone would have had a walk though, lol.

highlander i completely agree about the stock bumper rolling up, any ideas on how to fill it in? Maybe a second piece fo the trim, i might need to take a few measuremeants.

You guys aren't seriously considering this right...

I actually am considering it.

I love the look, but I know, for sure, that an aftermarket "pre-made" lip won't last me two weeks (if two days) here where I live, due to the typically steep driveway apron angles and rather bad potholes.....

This DIY seems to be a good compromise.

im surprised at how well it stands up to the snow and all the salt.. even through three snow storms, Nasioc 48 hours drive, and a few off-road events.
