driver door or window rattle
christurismohk replied to hpcbmw's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
my window rattles a bit when it is totally up. I tried looking for these two screws to adjust, but I couldn't locate them. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=20460&d=1151684153 Does anyone have the actual pictures instead of the drawings? -

LGT Wagon Suspension swapped into Outback XT
christurismohk replied to Duffman's topic in Suspension/Brakes
Car looks good! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y142/ForceFedGTI/Cars/IMG_0155.jpg Did this today. Works on passenger side. Driver side, same method but I used a breaker bar instead of a closed wrench. Thanks for putting this pic up! -
Discovered Group N LCA Bushing for Legacy
christurismohk replied to ifbiker's topic in Suspension/Brakes
bump an old thread. I know some of you guys already installed the group n bushings. Does anyone have a picture it? -
Starhm: Good to hear you got the rattles gone!! I did this back in 08, and the dash has been dead quiet since then!! The plugs in the firewall hole was the killer, and TSB did not address that. jproy12: Good luck man! But you won't regret with the result. Like the title said, taking it apart is the correct way of fixing it.

Vent Boost Gauge (Digital Led Bars & numerics)
christurismohk replied to lossol's topic in Interior/Audio
NICE. I am glad people are making more and more products for the Legacy -
I just used foam and double side tape. As of today, the car is still rattle free ever since I removed the dash. No need to add insulation or whatever. The foam type is just some soft foam from home depot. Actually, anything you find that can eliminate that "plastic against plastic" noise, you are good. nope, just regular screw drivers I don't remember correctly, but there aren't that many screws to hold up the gauge. As for the plastic cover, make sure you REMOVE the plastic cover, take it out from the top hole of the steering wheel, and then remove the gauge. The ENTIRE gauge including the plastic cover will NOT come out (I tried) hope this helps. I did NOT regret taking it apart at all, and the car is STILL rattle free from the dash

The reason why I took off my dash is because I tried other methods, and still not satisfied. I tried the backer rod, but it pops out after a couple of weeks. The plug on the firewall is the problem. In my case, adding insulation to the dash stopped the rattle of the male plug noise (aka TSB fix), but the female plug is still rattling itself against the firewall.

Update on Jan 22, 2020. Photobucket pix won't load, so please click on the link for pix. Here's a thread of the temporary fix. I even tried using a backer rod. However, the backer rod will get "flat" after some weeks, and then pop out. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10794&page=9 Yes, I took it to the dealership, they fixed it according to TSB. However, rattle still remains, and I FOUND THE REASON! So the only way to fix it is, yes, take it apart. Hardest: - Take out A pillar, you need to press HARD! - Take the entire dash out of the car (Remember to unplug the 2 plugs on the passenger side. One is for that tiny thing above, and the other plug is the yellow one I forgot what it was) - To take out the gauge, you need to remove the clear cover first. Otherwise, it will not come out from the steering wheel On to the pix! Stupid A Pillar clip mount https://www.dropbox.com/s/t510c7clmqyamab/11.jpg?dl=0 Driver side https://www.dropbox.com/s/r80v1czneygzw9v/01.jpg?dl=0 Center https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/04.jpg?dl=0 Passenger side https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/03.jpg?dl=0 Close up of the driver side "female" plug. This is the REASON why it rattles! TSB fixes ONLY the male plug rattling inside the female. HOWEVER, it still rattles BECAUSE the female plug is loose inside the frame!!! https://www.dropbox.com/s/xhvki8adbd7k2ni/02.jpg?dl=0 Center female plug: this one is blue. Same as the driver and passenger female plug, it is loose. I just put some paddings underneath so it is not loose anymore, and I do not know how to remove it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xhvki8adbd7k2ni/09.jpg?dl=0 Passenger side female plug https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/03.jpg?dl=0 Dealership fixed according to TSB, but it still did not solve it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/07.jpg?dl=0 A pic of female and male together https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/08.jpg?dl=0 Because I think the TSB fix is not good enough, I add the "protection" inside the female, so the male plug will not move inside for sure! (this sentence sounds funny...) ALSO, i placed some double sided tape behind the white female plugs on both driver and passenger side. This makes sure the plugs will not rattle inside the frame <--the cause of rattle https://www.dropbox.com/s/335zdcbqvycakre/05.jpg?dl=0 Finally, put everything back, and rattle is gone!!!!!!!! All thanks to: Vacation Pix

i was wondering...since the new 08 WRX uses the same engine as our cars...maybe someone can wait until 2009 when the STI is out, and check if the 6mt tranny might fit into our cars better?
