  1. for shits and giggles i thought I'd check in. still miss my LGT. sold it to a dude in Florida. he reached back out to tell that he has plans to pull the engine, redo the seals and bump up the HP to 300. what am I driving now? a '13 Crosstrek. It's ok. Meh.
  2. so I'm back in a Subie again: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/my-new-ride-245275.html
  3. this is vaguely how my car sounded when mine went. fortunately for me I was able to stay out of boost and limp home with no damage.
  4. it's a sonic ltz. fully loaded. wanna buy it? it's over in the classifieds. still working that out. coming up with a fair price.
  5. currently have a commuter. but trying to sell that and pick up a forester i think.
  6. well....the day has come. I've decided to let my car go. already have a potential buyer for it. finally got a 2nd opinion from a local mechanic on the oil leaks coming from my car. the diagnosis: left HG leak valve cover leaking badly unidentified (too much oil on it) leak coming from back by the turbo. that paired with coming up on TB replacement/water pump. I don't have the time, resources, patience, finances to make this a project car. Time to let someone else give it some love and make her a beast. 270k. good run.
  7. anyone here ride a KTM? looking at getting my son a new mountain bike. choices through the team shop are KTM, a Fuel or a Scalpel. reviews on the KTM's seem pretty good..minus the fact that the company is having a hard time getting them into the US.
  8. spent more time lately on the cx bike and racing.
  9. so..the pivot bearings have never been replaced on the Turner:lol: still to this day quite, no noise, nothing.
  10. i might do a gearing upgrade. x9 grip shift now.
  11. my turner is an 03. guess I feel the peer pressure to switch vs the need. it and I am still pretty fast on the bike. if anything I my upgrade my sons first.
  12. anyone still on 26ers here? I want to make the move...can't yet. have a Turner Burner and a Jamis Dakar XLT. my son rides the jamis
  13. made it home. kept it under 4k rpms the whole way. when I got to the top of the last hill, i heard it again. best I can describe the noise...know when something spins too fast and it makes that noise....yeah...that. . I purposefully gave it a little gas periodically on my non stop drive home, and could hear the turbo working, but no noise. until that last hill. needless to say..it's parked until i can get under and check it out.
  14. think my turbo went on the way in. I"m not sure yet...I could be ultra paranoid. but heard a sound I never heard before while driving to work. a whirring noise...not the turbo spooling. it's hard to explain. but when I let off the gas, it stopped. pulled over, popped the hood (like I'd see anything), got back in and drove off like there was an egg on my gas pedal. didn't hear the noise again. at work now, will have to drive the same way back home. I'm 30 miles from home....i need to get it closer to home.
  15. maybe. second guy I talked to thought the same....but also said with that many miles, the seals could be leaking. i don't know if I mentioned anywhere...but I sent an oil sample to blackstone labs. the results came back negative for coolant in the oil. In fact, they said they were a bit surprised how test came out considering how many miles were on it. and doubted there was a hg leak.
  16. yep. cheaper to get a commuter and fix the legacy vs get a newer car. so i bought a sonic hatchback. loaded. 5MT non turbo. didn't need the turbo in this car...and it really doesn't do much for it. and in a couple years my son will be driving and it will most likely be his.
  17. 269k. mine is no longer a DD. I've parked it and purchased a commuter. it gets driven once or twice a week now. I have to get it over to another mechanic for a second opinion. first told my oil leaks were because of a HG leak. but I have no symptoms of one. no radiator fluid in the oil, no blowing smoke....after 10k plus miles.
  18. i hear you guys. I'm waiting for the estimate from my mechanic. I'm not 100% sure yet what I'm going to do. but here's what I'm factoring in: 1. time down without the car while it's being fixed. more than likely a 2 day job. cost of rental now has to be included. 2. I drive 60+ miles a day. Yes the rest of the car is good. 3. I won't be buying a new car again. Used. couple years old. 2011-2013 outback with low miles. 4. swear to me!!!!!! 5. yeah.....I want to keep it. I'm just not sure it makes sense anymore.
  19. 264k report. Finally brought the car in to have what I thought was an oil pan seal fixed. Wrong. Head gaskets leaking. I'm also coming up on a timing belt. Considering the mileage....it might be time to off load this car and get into an outback. I'm waiting for the quote and then I'll make my decision
  20. no. I was way out when it started. all 3 or 4 were the same passenger rear side. I half think it was how it was installed. most were installed by this one mechanic...but the last was installed by someone else. last one was the good one.
