I use a marzocchi air/oil hydraulic and love it. Great for bigger people and/or drops. Very stiff and super durable. Plus they have great videos in the "Bomber zone":icon_mrgr

if you live close to the NH border let me know. There is a few of us on here that get together and ride.

I am interested in exploring some Maine trails. Any good one near you?

Can you be more specific on the east? You say North America and east...that is a whole lot of area. If you want to stay in Canada check out the Otawa area, they have some good XC, DH and a few skate parks too I believe and the people there are really nice. Did a road trip up there a few years ago and the people were great....there's also a place a little south of there called CFMBA that has some north shore stuff if you're into it. Check out mtbkanata.com. But if you mean the NE of the US I would agree with rvlmtfnk. Boston has some good stuff and same with NY area. But most would be about an hour drive from teh fun stuff.

Thanks fatbastard (seems wrong typing that)

When I say East I mean Ontario / New York / Quebec.

I'll check out those sites you suggested.

I need to pick up a mountain bike. I went from them to road bikes at college b/c I picked one up cheap and fell in love with the smoothness and speed of them, despite losing curb jumping abilities.

You can still curb jump your RB. I do! It's always fun to see all the road weenies dismounting for a curb or some RR tracks.

Kingdom Trails in N. Vermont is better (tho it pains me to say so). Really nice riding up there.

Baxter is buggy. Sugarloaf is really nice though- especially in September.

OH RLY?

thanks for the heads up!

Im not to worried about bugs.... I ride too fast

I bent a wheel once doing it so after that I tried to avoid it, most places had ramps for bikes(State College,Pa has lots of bicycle traffic so the town has adapted to that). Plus due to the geometry of the bike it seemed harder to be as nimble with it clearing curbs? I used to love riding my friends trek mountain bike, just seemed like a grea all around bike.

I was just thinking about dusting mine off and checking out the local trails this weekend or maybe one night after work...I just hope the trails aren't soupy. I hate when I spend more time cleaning/tuning my gear than actually riding.

The trails here in Westchester County, NY are an unrideable muddy mess. :(

I can't imagine that they are any better out in Vernon.

It's time to break out the road bike!

Nice thread, I don't come to this forum as much as I should. Will be visiting more if I can track down a nice used 3.0R sedan this summer.

Anyway, here is my current ride.

Brodie Cyclone custome painted w/flames

Full SRAM x9

Truvativ stem, cranks

Pike fork in the pictures but got a new lyrik this winter

Avid Juicy 7's 203 rotors

Come on out to idaho

mountain bike heaven

Just around where I live there is more then 2000 miles of single track as well as unlimited 2 track.

The snow is melting fast and need to trail for the casecade cream puff 100 as well as the park city 100.

Both races have over 20 grand of climbing and 60% singletrack.

Any one else here one the 100 mile race schedule this year. Hoping to get another season out of the scalpel but I can always go back to my ti-fat chance.

It seems like every year they keep adding more trails out here instead of closing them like the east coast.

This past weekend they were still too icy to bother with, maybe if I had the studded snows on

I have MTB'ed since 92. I finally went FS in 2000. I had a Tomac and then decided it wasn't enough. I have a Titus SB now. I built my Tomac into a commuter and ride to work and put in road miles. I turn 40 next month and decided this was the year. I am going to do a century. There a re a couple of flat stretches around me to do the distance. By the end of the year I want to ride to the top of a mountain pass and back. Something else I always wanted to do. The ride will be 100 miles and a total of 7000 feet of climbing. Has anyone else done centuries??? Any advice??? And yes, I am going to do it on my Tomac FS. Is that silly?

Here are my rides

And before you think riding the Tomac on the road is silly, in one year I put 4500 miles on it. I admit that was a bit rough, but It does well. I pump up my rear and my front isd lock out with blow off. It gives a compliant ride. Comfy. Thoughts?
