Sorry to interrupt this tiff but has someone figured out the exact model # or type of pin that the DVD unit requires to add a wire to terminal #5 on the molex style plug? I don't want to jamb a paper clip into the back of the jack as some has instructed. Thanks for any help.

if you know anything about building computers or have old computers laying around a few guys on Nasioc used those old cdrom audio cables that cdroms used to use. you can break apart those plastic ends and the wire is attached to a female square pin. It will slide nicely onto that navigations pin.

I guess I can look around to see what I have. I recently threw out a bunch of old computer stuff that was laying around for a while. See the pic for what I tried to use. If this is the correct pin I can try a larger size. This one had too much play and would not keep a constant connection. Thanks.

Thought I'd post this for the mad genious EE/CE's among us (if any :( - I am not one). I doubt anyone is going to be willing to de-solder their ICs and likely render their multi-million-$$$ navs dysfunctional but, you never know.

IC7, IC11, and IC784 all seem to be EEPROM chips if you look at the Dv3200 Service Manual in post #1. I don't know if their "socketed" style but I highly doubt it :(.

Just a hopeful wish

Not to get things sidetracked but in other threads it was mentioned that the nav system is likely not a 3200.

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48659&page=4

I remember reading the unit may be a 3100 and not a 3200 and does not even have the plugs.

http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48659&page=4

After more reading I am pretty sure it is a 3100, or possibly a dv4100.

Also another question, has anyone opened the dvd unit? I was wondering if the plug for the TCM, or the other stuff, was behind the punch out plate. If someone has opened it they would probably know more about exactly what unit it is.

finse, what does the camera portion of your install look like? finish, fit, etc.

I have the same camera as unidentified84 (post #184 on this thread). Right now my install looks pretty much the same. However, I intend to order some paint from paintscratch.com and paint the bezel and the camera titanium silver to match the rest of the car. I will post some pics when I finish it up.

I kept thinking that I've seen that 4-pin molex connector somewhere. Then I realized there's one on a standard ATX power supply. I happened to have an old one handy and compared it to the images I've seen on this thread. I'm pretty sure they're the same.

Someone who has hooked up their backup camera using a molex connector, please give us your thoughts.

stupid question that may be covered somewhere in this thread but...

I have used up the aux video in on the back of the display already and it works great...the question is...can I now uses the nomex 4 pins for a additional source? I'd like to install a backup camera too.

If so would I just need hit the info button twice to get to the camera? can anyone help me out here? thanks!

Putting the car in reverse actuates the molex/4 pin connector source (when properly connected)

pressing Info will only switch between aux and the info screen. Its to bad really, it would be pretty sweet there was an option to switch to the rear camera while in a forward gear.

or if someone would just installa an A B switch with composite video that would make the camera work in forward....then splitting the video for the Camera would give the ability to do the true rear camera as well.......anyone here have an 08 tribeca....anyone knwo how there rearview camera works? if it goes to a seperate powersupply box or if it goes straight to there nav unit?

It has a seperate control unit that gives power also only turns on when in reverse.

If you wanted to get the camera in forward and reverse you would have to give it a constant power supply and use it with the (on back of nav) video input/info button only problem is that you would have to use the info button before backing up shifting into reverse wouldn't turn it on anymore
