Marvick08GT
Nope, aluminum! I waited for a darker hood at the pick and pull. Cost me $60!
Marvick08GT
Installed a new set of whiteline bushings in the lower front control arms. WOW! The old ones were loose and I could move them by hand... Also installed installed cusco type 2 brace. Feels great! Need to do the rear now. Marvick08GT
Hell yeah! What's the point of having it, if not to drive? It's a riot year round lol. Definitely fun to tear up some parking lots... Didn't want to chance destroying the prodrives either lol Edited November 10, 2021 by Marvick08GT

Definitely fun to tear up some parking lots... Didn't want to chance destroying the prodrives either lol Mine sits in the garage in the winter unless it is dry and no snow around. I am very anal about it getting dirty. It's ALWAYS CLEAN. Like I might need help I clean it so much . I hear ya on the wheels, I bought a new set just for winter also. I do drive mine in the winter, but it needs to be no snow. I have a 2013 2.5 I that I take out to beat up. My LGT stays warm inside.
Marvick08GT
Well, the "New" built longblock ran for about 2600 miles total before throwing a rod out the top of the engine (cyl #3) No noises or issues, went to merge @ 45mph half throttle and heard a noise, cut the ignition and smoke started billowing from the hood. Coasted in neutral for a while and stopped. Coolant and oil everywhere... I was picking up food for my son's birthday, so there's that.. Had my insurance tow to my house (Agile is 51 miles) and will have Agile's tow company grab the car this weekend. So disappointing, luckily they built the whole thing top to bottom and I have a 1 year 12k mile warranty.... Marvick08GT
If by soon you mean sometime early 2022?? That's the worst part of this, car was in the shop longer than it's been out. Just trying to be calm and realize that sometimes things happen out of our control and see what happens. I appreciate all the support and sentiments, everybody be safe out there. whitexc
I hear yah on the down time. My car shit the bed in April and I hope to have it back in the next week or two. Granted, I didn't start tinkering with it until July so.... Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
rhino6303
Sorry about that. My car has been at the paint shop since the middle of June. It's really sucked since now I won't drive it during the winter with fresh paint.
JoeInOregon
Wow what a bummer, sorry to hear that man. I have been saving for a motor build so I can feel " safe"....this doesn't make me feel warm about and cozy about the idea Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
Marvick08GT
Exactly... All the warm and cozy is gone lol. Took some more pics, running theory now is that one of the rod bolts (#3) backed out. Pics show good threads in one side of the rod with only the last 2 threads ripped out. The other side snapped obviously lol. One of the pics shows an unknown piece of aluminum inside the bellhousing inspection cover... what a cluster f..... P.s. the other pic of the radiator is a piece of the crossover pipe that made it to the radiator..
Tehnation
I know the feeling, I was there last year, i didn't get but 100 miles then smoke. Just be happy that you have a WARRANTY! I had to eat the cost.
Marvick08GT
Agreed.. spent a small fortune for this so called warranty... I know it is human nature to blame others, worried the shop will try and protect itself. All data I currently have supports the rod bolt backing out. Shops like to CYA, so we will see. Good news is they can install my cusco engine mounts for free.... lmfao have to stay positive!
Tehnation
If they don't get the proper stretch on the bolt, a process that took me weeks going through 3 different stretch gauges and 3 different torque wrenches, then it can work its way out or break. Did the bolt break or come out? If it broke they torqued it too much, and if it came out then they didn't torque it enough! Either way thats internal.... I don't know how they can pass that off as someone else's problem. They know the car wasn't built for gas mileage lol. What about the bearings? It could have been bearing failure and destroyed the end cap. Which is an oil pressure/starvation thing. Marvick08GT
Didn't see any oil pressure issues, no noise until this happened. I saw threads in the rod so I am assuming the bolt backed out. The last couple threads are stripped (my guess they backed out and then ripped the last few threads when it gave way) Appreciate the info, exactly why I went with a known subaru shop, didnt want the headache. Mistakes happen, I guess??
JoeInOregon
What disaster, I have been trying to decide between OEM short block and the , "grocery getter" block my local shop sources....think I will just go OEM and keep the final build mild with the 16g I have Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
tysparks81
Hope this gets covered by warranty, sorry to read about this. #LGTSTi is still cheaper and nicer then an equal year wrxsti Follow my 2007 Spec B. Build here
Marvick08GT
Agile says they believe it to be a hardware failure (rod bolt) they are not certain why at this point. I will know by Wednesday. They are sending a new block out today to get sleeved (Darton). Hill was professional and I applaud his quest for knowledge (I want to know what happened as well). Happy to confirm the shop I have been using for years is one of the good ones. Agile Automotive Performance
xt2005bonbon
Sorry to hear man . Like others said, I surely hope they'll take care of you. I read good things about Agile. They're the ones who built your engine right?

shralp
Well that blows! I’ve heard nothing but good things about Agile during my years on this forum. Sucks for sure but I bet they will set you straight.
Marvick08GT
Just want some thoughts... Hill called and told me it was a hardware failure (rod bolt or cap). That being said, we were out of injector last time. Is it wrong if I get the 1700x installed? I called ID and they said the 1700's idle exactly like the 1300's on pump and e-85. Would like to get these in now since I have to start over anyway. Just wanted some thoughts, feeling a little HP greed, but if the injector was the only thing holding me back... TLDR: I feel like asking for bigger injectors and more power after the engine blew up (granted, hardware failure) is wrong. Not sure why though, sleeved motor should be good to big HP. Happy Holidays!
