bro its bt this wheel and the wrx wheel. idk which one looks better.

Is the WRX wheel 17" or 18"? I know here in Aus the base WRX used to run 17's.

In my opinion you want to run minimum 18". Though 19" looks better in terms of running a 40 profile tyre (but you won't find any OEM rims in this size so you're into aftermarket wheels).

These are the current style WRX/STI wheels that are probably my favorites:

or these:

guys what do i do about lugnuts ? which ones do i get? are there a spec number i have to get? all i see are M12 X 1.25. but idk if those will fit these stock wrx or sti wheels.

Just use your stock lugnuts if you're using an OEM wheel. Unless of course you want a locknut or to go with anodized colours.

for those of you running a winter setup I just was wondering if you purchased an extra set of TPMS sensors for them? I would love to have winter tires/wheels but boy it adds up especially with the sensors. Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing. Want to run a winter/summer set-up. Anyone out there 'been there, done that?' I'm specifically wondering about how to program the sensors to be read by the car. Dealership? or can any place (like Pep Boys) do them?

My local tire shop did it in two minutes. As long as the sensors are the right type and broadcast in the right frequency range they will read...gtg. I had 17" steelies on my ride and bought 17" wrx wheels. They had the factory tpms sensors still attached. Seamless integration. He came out with a little tool that connects to the Ecu, reads info then read all four tires individually. Then plugged back in. Done. Easy peasy.

Wheels: 2008 STi five-spoke

Specs: 18x8.5 ET55

Bolt pattern: 5x114.3

Tyres: 245/40R18 (note these are under-size and speedo will read fast)

Just put the 2 tyre sizes into any online tire calculator. Here's the stock Legacy 18's vs the WRX 18's.

As Ryan said the 245/40R18 is quite a bit smaller and so at the same speed it will be running around faster. Hence why the speedo will read fast.

so im getting 245/45/18 then instead of 245/40/18

So today started out great, ended real shitty pretty quickly. Safe to say I'm NEVER using discount tire in reno ever again!!

These guys tried to play me like a fool, The manager Dave tried to say it was shipping and his machine could never do this. Straight to the point Discount Tire bent my rim, If it wasn't for the red paint transfer/scratch that I caught. I would be buying a new rim. I was trying my hardest to keep my cool with Dave, after I pointed out the paint transfer from his machine he agreed to 100% replace my rim. This was about 45min ordeal. My WORST nightmare came true, now with all the fake wheels floating around I need to study up wish me luck. If anyone knows how to spot fakes please let me know.

help a brother out!

Here are some pics that will make you sick to your stomach.

Maybe ill make a awesome little coffee table with my bent rim. FML

Also I'm never buying muteki lug nuts. cheap ass paint is flaking off and I just took them out of the box. Im over today lol

Yes. 245/45R18 is the much better size to run on 18 x 8.5 rims. It is the closest size to stock tire diameter. You'll never get a perfect match but as long as you're within 1-2% you'll be fine.

As tyres wear over their life they do get smaller so there will be a slight change in your speedo reading anyway from brand new to 100% worn out.

Most car manufacturers are conservative with their speedo settings to allow for someone to put one size larger tire on and still keep the speedo "correct". As a general rule the speedos will almost always over estimate the speed than under estimate it.

With my 245/45R18's when my speedo indicates 64 I'm actually doing 60. I've checked this against a GPS unit and my speedo reads about 5% fast.

In my opinion 18 is the SMALLEST these cars should have on them.

In the next few months I'm going to be trying my luck with 19's as I feel it matches the car perfectly.

Agree 100%. If I was putting new wheels on my car now I'd be looking at running a 19x8.5 rim with a 245/40R19 tire combo.

The only problem with this size is that there are no OEM options as the largest OEM rim is 18's at the moment. So you're into aftermarket rims.

I'm a big fan of OEM+ look and not making something too customized - though that's just personal preference and also with an eye for resale later down the track.
