When I had my Legacy I used the Lexol Cleaner, and then conditioner on my seats and it worded great. Get a microfiber cloth wet, with warm water, ring it out, and then spray the cleaner on the rag, do not spray it on the seat or console as it will get in the perforations and all over where you don't want it. Scrub the area gently, dry with a separate microfiber cloth, and with a third microfiber spray the condition on the rag and buff it evenly across the seat. So I got my first impressions after a stop at the dealer. I wanted to see if they had any on the lot, they had a black Limited which is the model I would get if I were to purchase another Legacy. Well to cut to the chase I was disappointed. Now please understand my comparison is to my 16 Limited and all these things are petty but they add up for me. First thing I noticed was sill plates are no longer "aluminum", there is no wood trim(its an accessory), and still no interior LED lighting (also an accessory). So I hop in the car, adjust everything to just take it in and it all seemed busy in a sense. There's so many more angles and shapes and random BS that doesn't need to be there it seems. No I will admit the interior of the 16's already seems sort of dated but it isn't horrible and I like the subtle things like aluminum sill plates, tasteful wood trim bits and clean layout. To me with the higher price tag and lack of these things the Legacy has lost its "value" status with me. It still packs a lot of nice things for the money but not nearly as much as when I bought my 16. Just my .02.

^Well that sucks. That's not good for Subaru either, especially since they have admitted to slumping quality and are looking to pick it back up for the new gen Legacy and Outback.

Build and price is now up on Subaru's website for the Legacy. I built a Limited XT, after accessories my total was $36,480.

I recall reading some threads on the Ascent forums about it. I don't recall many details though, maybe head over there to see what owners are saying. Is the CVT in the Ascent the same one going into the Legacy and Outback XT?

I agree, the bang for the buck is still there. I do prefer the Limited over the Touring simply because the Touring has one interior color, and I do not care for it much. I wish the Limited XT could be optioned with the cooled seats. Over all it should be a solid car, with a competitive price, I will be curious to see the sales numbers throughout the first year since we all know sedan sales are in the tank.

I am somewhat surprised, but also happy about these prices. I still think they are a good value however I would need the dealer to let me have a day or two with it because there are several options I would need to get myself acquainted with. First being auto start stop, and then getting used to the HVAC controls in that screen has me a little nervous. Overall I think it will do well but with some of Subaru's recent quality hiccups I am on the fence.

Yes I was expecting the prices to be higher as well. The Legacy XT is appealing but I would have to drive one for a day or so mainly to see how I would deal with that 11.6 inch screen, that seems like a distraction without essential functions (HVAC) immediately available. I would rather push a physical button or turn a knob. Also auto start stop sucks, and having to go through three pages in that large screen to disable it is stupid. Auto start stop might be common among most auto manufacturers these days but I just wont have it.

Very nice. Red lip or not you have a spectacular looking car, not over done but tasteful mods. Very clean, OE+ look.

I use Lexol products, and they have been excellent. Make sure they are really clean, then use the conditioner and they are soft and supple. I do it about every 3-4 months but I'm not to hard on seats so its all a matter of use.

Looks fantastic. I love everything except the red lip. The headlights and grille give it a really clean OE+ looks. Sharp car.

That Legacy held up incredibly well. Subaru safety did its job, glad you are ok.

It is a great feeling to have a vehicle payed off. Congrats! I too like having new vehicles as well, but right now I am finding it pretty hard to trade in when I love the vehicle I am in and money in the bank at the same time. I change daily, to keep it or to upgrade. I am never certain.

After talking with some friends another option is in the books for me now, 2019 Mazda6 Signature. My one big Subaru friend said he would take front wheel drive on snow tires over AWD on all seasons which I can understand. Also the Mazda doesn't have a CVT, or auto start stop like the new Subies will.

Tundras are great! They are supposed to be redesigned for the 2021 MY so you might be in luck for a new one.

Late to the party here but I like the simulated shifts. That's part of what made the CVT tolerable for me. It doesn't act like a "normal" CVT which gets super annoying. Drive a Nissan around the block and you wont want to go any farther. I think 6 simulated shift points was fine, now Subaru is adding 8, not sure why since its only simulated but we will see how the new CVT's with the new oil feels and reacts.

Well, my commute has changed and I would like better gas mileage. The Tacoma is fantastic, no doubt. Between the Legacy and the Tacoma, their not even comparable. The Tacoma is fantastic for a midsize truck, I don't use it as a truck all that often but the convenience is nice. It doesn't have power seats, (now an option for 2020 MY), no dual zone or auto climate which is optional, but the overall comfort is nice and I have no complaints. 2 years free maintenance and other than taking it in every 5,000 miles for that I haven't had to go to the dealer for anything. Still solid as I bought, now its 2 years old with 23,000 miles currently. I really do love it, but being able to save $700 in gas annually with my new commute I am struggling to justify keeping it.

Time to revive this thread! I am currently in a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport. I am pretty sure my next will be a 2020 Legacy Limited XT.

Sorry for the delayed response as well, I appreciate the feed back. The lack of buttons would definitely be something to get used to. You mention the physical button for defrost and would be better as a modes I totally agree, or just make it auto. Most new vehicles just have automatic climate control so why not make it an auto button, one push and its basically set. It seems surprising for Subaru to go in this direction but overall it looks nice and we will have to see how real world use and ergonomics play out. Thanks again.

^I thought the same thing. The onyx edition is very appealing. I really like the interior colors and "water proof" seats. Just wondering where the pricing and model will slide into the mix. My guess is it will be about the same price as a Limited XT.
