DrD123
There's a bunch of 5th gen 2.5GTs on cars.com right now - mostly 2010's with one 2011 and one 2012. 2010 https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/702170841/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/661212213/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703912089/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703299206/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/696109021/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703124463/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703793892/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/704742191/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703486618/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/698193863/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/700602885/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/701500934/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703075759/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/704202958/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/704119135/overview/ 2011 https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/693777344/overview/ 2012 https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/703373522/overview/
ChrisCrash
Those are all high priced,I like it, need to drive up our value. The third one, the black one in ny is on my route today,I might stop in just to check it out
DrD123
I thought it was odd that the 2012 and 2011 were priced below many of the 2010's...
pfoyle
My baby is for sale... :( Engine work needed, price reflects this ($6k). I am unbelievably sad. Mileage is high, but almost entirely highway (80 miles a day to/from work). Mods are tasteful and extensive. Lots of extras thrown in with the deal. Help me find her a good home!!! http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/wilmington-ma-2010-subaru-legacy-gt-engine-work-needed-263225.html

Head gasket issues I gotta say Im very sorry to see this. You passing me on 93 and revving up the engine is what led me to this forum in the first place. I really hope you can find a way to keep it or at least get a fair price for a great car!

I know... it's been a tough couple of days... I love this car like no other I have ever owned, it's been really fantastic. But with a new home, and the prospects of a family on the horizon, I think it's time to part ways with my baby. If you know of any worthy owners, send them my way! I just want to find a good home for her now, with an owner who will love and appreciate her the way that I have!

It seems like you have about $6k in mods; It's almost like a free car. If someone wants to put in some sweat equity they should have good car. GLWS. Spent way more than $6k on this car , but just considering the brakes, suspension and wheels/rubber, I think it's reasonably priced... obviously there's an investment aspect that makes it more complicated, but given how much I love this car, I just want to find the right owner to bring her back! It's a unique sleeper that has been thoughtfully built and well cared for. Hopefully whoever buys her gives me visitation rights!
DrD123
LMAO! "title status: clean" Unless an insurance company totals it out, the title doesn't get altered. Looks like the hit got the radiator... (there's cat litter or some sort of absorbant all in front of the car) wonder if it reached the engine...

spb
How much would an engine rebuild cost? Or what would it cost to get a reliable engine replacement? I understand that it all depends, but what is the range? Just curious.
GTEASER
Do the work yourself, have the heads freshened by a local shop, and buy an OEM shortblock, you're probably looking at $4000. Have a shop do the entire rebuild, you're probably looking at $6000-$8000. cseagle08
If you're having someone else do it, with new parts. I wouldn't be surprised if it was $4K+ by time your all said and done. By yourself might could get under 3K. Depends on how much has to be rebuilt (short block vs long block, new vs old turbo etc)
GTEASER
^^ you're off just a little. An OEM shortblock alone is $2000. GTEASER's 2012 Legacy GT - Sold GTEASER's 2009 XTeaser - Sold GTEASER's 1992 Legacy SS - Sold

pfoyle
The dealer I took my broken car to estimated about $6k for the rebuild... $1500 to tear it apart, ~$4k for the motor, and then reassemble.
Peacesells
dealer spent around 4k to rebuild my engine for a head gasket. just a reference for cost.

cseagle08
Another reference point: I spent around 1,600 and 3 weekends pulling the motor and replacing it with a 40k-50k mile used engine myself.
