Nice packaging.

Was listing things off for my build while taking the girl to play rehearsal...

I'll see if she remembers daddy needs:

water pump and gasket

52mm oil pressure gauge and send unit

shit ton of smooth bore hose clamps of various sizes.

Well, I might end up doing a real engine build using my stock block... after I get this one running and save enough money. So I plan to hang on to them for a while, but I might sell them too. I don't know.

Got this a few weeks ago

I like that the instructions from MY member's product didn't include the words, "Install and use at your own risk"

j/k, Mike. I'll probably be placing my order soon. My stock TMIC can only last so long. .

Depends...sometimes you can get away with just lapping, but the right way would be to get a valve job. My machine shop taught me to lay the head upside down and put liquid (he said mineral oil so it wont ruin valve seals) and let it sit overnight. Still there in morning, your proble safe, not there, you need a valve job.

If I have new heads and new valves, can I just lap the valves in, or do I need to take them to a shop to get a valve job?

Aren't you close to m sprank ? ask him for advice.

I agree, somethings are best left to the experts.

m sprank owns a shop and seems to be swamped (which imo is a good thing) but asking him for free advice on forums when his livelihood depends on getting paid for that advice. I don't know just haven't got that sense recently that that's something he wants to be doing.

yeah, I went ahead and got all new cams. My stock ones were a little scored, and the used ones that I got were not scored, but they were worn more than I I would have liked since I'm putting them in new head castings. I ended up paying about 150 per cam

Oh, Lordie! I woulda let you have my set for $100!

I might take you up on this. Only because I worry about my cams. There seem to be some kind of scoring on my cams where they're held in place. But it's not huge at all. The lobes are perfect though.
