  1. My 3.0 has SI drive and the gauges don't go red. I really wish Subaru would have kept this option in the Leggys.
  2. I would not waste your money. Your car has a CVT and this won't do much for performance. Money would be better spent buying new Endlinks and Sways. As for the install you would probably need a lift and install is probably 3 out of ten on the skills side. But once again money is better spent on other mods due to the CVT.
  3. Correct. I am seeing a lot for sale in my area on the used market for under 25k. I think it's just the range vs any competitors that is the huge issue for buyers. I love the interior especially the steering wheel. Unfortunately I think Subaru will phase it out as time progresses for any future electric options they may bring.
  4. Surprisingly I am seeing a lot of Used Model Ys and 3s at local Subaru Dealers. As well as a lot of Solterras. But yes everything is computer and battery. One thing that is always in my mind is what happens when the battery dies. It's a brick. And they other gripe is if something does break it's hard to repair the vehicle. Sometimes I wish I had my Land Rover Defender TD5 still. Sadly I had to leave that in Germany when I was done in the Military. 0-60 in forever but just so basic.
  5. I will agree. However I have no faith in anything a service advisor says most of the time. They could tell most people their Johnson rod was bad and people would believe them. I learned one thing about Subaru having three of them. Buy all OEM parts except for the battery lol.
  6. I have a 2006 2.5 SE and a 2008 3.0. never an issue once the battery was replaced with aftermarket. The issue boils down the the car is not driven. All my kids are over 18. Thank you for your thoughts.
  7. I have two Fourth Gens one a 2.5 and the other a 3.0. never one issue with the batteries once changed from stock. You are correct the Australian market 3.6 do not have the module so no issues. Majority of owners have no issues as long as they have been driven regularly. I own several other cars Including the Model S. And honestly the Model S has been the most maintenance free car I have ever had. Issue is even though it a extended range the capacity of miles on the car on a good day is about 280 so for me and my driving I don't have the time to sit and charge it unless it's local. The one thing you hit is the CVT. Compared to my other cars including the Tesla that has a CVT I have no issues on the highway with the CVT but on City streets the car just responds like it's waking up from a nap. I am in a lot of rentals that have CVTs from week to week and they don't feel as bad as the 3.6 granted different cars drive different. As far as the battery drain issue. Fuse has been pulled. But once again car is just not driven. I changed the battery last weekend and have my wife driving it 100 miles a day to her job. So it has not given any issues yet. One huge factor is my area is in the winter we can get as cold as -30 at night so once again any car would have battery drain if unused.
  8. Already have a Model S. My 4th gens hate AGMs as well. However a regular flooded battery was doing the same thing granted that was Subaru OEM. Nothing is staying awake. The only awake was the Starlink module. Ever since I pulled the fuse no more issues. I don't even have a battery that works in both remotes because I am lazy so not that. Plus I don't even lock the car where I live. I'm gonna run to Walmart and grab a flooded group 24 and see if anymore issues happen. The AGM has been in the car two years so maybe charging and discharging and putting it in a tender caused issues. The issue with cars is the only car I can buy would be some 4x4 Jeep and that not my style. Already have two Lexus's, the 2018 Model S, the S4, and the two 4th Gens. In the end the issue is I dont think the car gets driven and maybe I should drive it more. That would kill any battery in any car. In my area you need AWD and snow tires help. But as mentioned it's paid off. Thank you for the advice
  9. Someone please talk me out of getting rid of my 3.6. Car has 59000 miles on it. I am not a newbie to Subie. I have two forth Gens. My issue is this car just eats batteries and I am about done with it. My daughter has been driving the car for the last month. New battery and the Fuse is pulled for Starlink and battery still goes dead if left over the weekend. I have upgraded to a size 24 and it is an Odyssey AGM. At this point what else can I do besides disconnect the battery or keep on my tender all the time? I have several other cars so it's just on the fence right now. 150 for a battery every three months is still cheaper then another payment. Car is a great highway car but thinking maybe another Tesla may be the way to go. Just on the fence. Any thoughts will be very appreciated. Car is paid off BTW.
  10. What state are you in? Honestly do not see a lot of 3.6s in junkyards. I have seen a boatload of 3.6 Outbacks lately but not many Leggys. On both my 4th gens both front bearing assemblies were replaced. What problems did you have? And what year?
  11. I agree. It's not just tuner cars. They get after Diesels as well. I have a 98 3/4 Ton and use it to haul out fifth wheel. I have a tuner on it as well as an aftermarket Turbo and exhaust. Makes 1400 ft lbs of TQ and about 900 HP at peak tune. The big thing is I am not a jackass and roll coal. When I sent t my G37 to Stillen for the Supercharger conversion they told me they have a lot of issues with the package because it includes high flow cats. Since they are in California they have to abide by Carb. He did say since my car is registered in a non emissions state they could avoid Carb however I wanted them to make no special mods so I kept it carb and park of the package. He told me two words that make it pass carb. Bunghole Extension. But fully agreed that more pressing issues besides coming down on tuner cars.
  12. Now I have seen it all. WRX driver pulls up besides me. Car is really decked out with cheap mods. He takes off like a bat out of hell of course he had no cat and a muffler delete so it sounded like shit. But the thing that made my day is the guy removed the WRX logo from the back and a Type R badge was on the trunk. Just made my day and all I could do was laugh.
  13. I would just let it go. It does not affect the performance of the vehicle. For me I only hear it when driving the first few miles. Other then that I do not hear it at all. And I don't really drive with the radio on half the time. If you must and it's bothering you check out the TSB below. It should point you in the right direction. Subaru TSB 04-17-17R 08/20/19
  14. Did you change the air filter with a new one? And where did you buy the parts? If you bought on Amazon, eBay, etc then you have a good chance you got fake parts. Fuel pump/filter is an entire assembly it's an all in one. And what do you mean changed the coil position? Did you swap coil packs when you were changing the plugs? Or did you buy new coil packs? The check engine light is on however does the car run fine? Or do the original problems still exist? It could be you also maybe got crap gas. Have you put techron concentrate or so mething similar in it and ran it with the best gas you can in your area(I use ethanol free 91 when I can) I have the same car and have honestly never had an issue with it in 150k of driving.
  15. I got ya. Just saying it's 14 years old. Personally if I removed it I would have just replaced with new. Just preventative maintenance. That's just me. The PCV is a part that works or doesn't. So understandable. Have a good one.
  16. Why not just change the PCV valve to a new one? Last time I bought one it was twenty bucks or cheaper. I don't think the PCV is causing any issues but it's a cheap part.
  17. No it's not. Not with the CVT trans. That's what makes it not fun for me. The 2.5 NA is not fun at all unless you have a GT. I do have a EJ25 in my 2006 SE Thankfully it's a manual. But it drives like a 170 HP car should drive. But it's not fun like my S4 or RCF. Even my twenty years old beater commuter special Civic is more fun. My mother in law is pushing 85 and her daily driver is a Hellcat Redeye Challenger and her winter AWD car is an SRT Durango. She still has a Corvette Grand Sport Convertible for days she wants to "go slow" But she's a lot different lol.. and let's not even talk about what my father in-law even has
  18. Is this just a 7th gen issue? As many know I rarely drive my 3.6. I have a dead battery in both key fobs since I am lazy and do t want to change out the battery despite having boxes of them. And mine starts right up when I put the fob to the start/stop button. Never any issues. So maybe a 7thbgen thing? I also have two newer Lexus's and have never had a issue with the key not being recognized.
  19. No worries. Just as a tip of it was a shop that told you your key lost programming I would avoid in the future.
  20. Not the key. Even if the fob battery was dead you can still press the key fob up to the start/stop button and start the car as normal. The programming from the key does not just go away. Whoever told you the key lost programming is an idiot. I am lazy and haven't changed my key fob batter and do this all the time. As far as your car battery. Charging it sometimes will still have the same issues(I know as I do this all the time and have issues) Jump start the car or put a new battery in and all your issues should go away. For reference. My 3.6 has been driven maybe 2500 miles in seven years so mine sits alot. Sam's club has batteries for $125 dollars now with a fail proof replacement policy for three years.
  21. No offense. That Caddy will start having issues as well. All cars do. I have three Legacys. By far the 6thbGen has been the worst due to replacing batterys. Other then that it's just been regular maintenance. All three Indo t think I even have fife grand in maintenance and that's including new tires and two of the Leggys I bought brand new. By far my S4 has been the biggest pain in the ass for maintenance. IDK about not having adaptive cruise. Only my 3.6R has it out of all my cars. Not even my Lexus's have it. Half the time I forget it's even on my 3.6 because I am so used to not having it. Since all my miles are mostly highway at 80 for hundreds of miles I am sorta uncaring about it just like yourself. The ride.on Caddy's is nice. Will give you that. My old 92 Mercedes 500 rides like a dream compared to my RCF. However my GS 350 rides really nice as well. But we all need to know. I am guessing you had a 4 cylinder Leggy? Have fun with your Caddy.
  22. And here I was at -19 on Sunday. Funny thing is the only car that did not have any issues was my old beater Honda. Both my Lexus and Two Subarus struggled to turn over. As everyone says the less electronics the better. But OP since it was doing it in the warmer weather it's prob a motor. Dumb question. Is it only the one window or all windows?
  23. Well said Max. I know to many people who buy fake NGKs on Amazon or eBay and complain the car is running like shit after install.
  24. I would just go to a dealer and ask the parts dept. Probably the easiest way.
  25. Op, A pair of stock wheels will run you about $400 ish each on eBay from someone that upgraded. However since you are at 5/32 as you mentioned it's best to replace the tires as well. So that's another $600 at a minimum. Around my area it's about $100 to $150 to refinish a rim. What I would do is just get a new set of stock 18s and enjoy life. Personally I hate the stock wheels on my 18 3.6 but to me it's not worth the time or money to replace them since the car gets driven maybe 500 miles a year.
