It was Merv's wagon, but now it is Naylors wagon. The build begins.

You know how it works...

We take the car. Break it down and rebuild it. You get to see the story in pictures.

Because we were starting with "Merv's" wagon, I left out the before shots (tons posted over time).

But, we are reassembling now. So...

The brakes getting prepped for re-assembly.

The HID ballasts getting mounted in custom brackets.

The heater hose getting wrapped in yellow.

The brakes as they go back together.

The catch cans.

The idle pulley.

The intake tube.

Assembled rear brake with logo back on.

Pix around the engine bay as I re-assemble.

Pix of the engine bay as things go back together.

Pix of the tranny cross members.

Headers looking up.

Headers looking back.

Front sways.

Jack plate.

Rear sways.

Maybe you are getting the color scheme now. Coolant green, candy chrome red, matte black and (Whiteline) yellow.

Entire exhaust-headers, up pipe, turbo (both sides of housing) down pipe and full CBE (all the way to the tips) is satin black ceramic hi temp coating.

Lots more to do. Lots more pix to come. Performing a full build (including some interior work).

There is a lot of yellow right now because the entire wiring harness is exposed. Once it is back in place it will be a highlight, not a dominant feature.

This is a car in mid build, not the finished product. The point is to enjoy the process that gets to the finale. There is a LOT more to do. There are colors not even represented or installed yet. Heck, I have yet to post a pic with the manifold even on. I had to take some of the pix now, because once everything is assembled you wont see all the colors. But a judge at show will want to see pix to know it is there.

Main colors are coolant green and matte black. Everything else is a accent/highlight.

Got the idea for the matte black Volks and coolant green Brembos from a show Lambo. Decided to take it another step from there.

You know what would have really set this apart is tucking the harness instead of looming it in yellow!! It stands out like a sore thumb and takes away from the engine bay as a whole.

I like this concept! But I see more yellow and red then any black and green.

Guess We'll just have to wait and see what it looks like finished.

Interested in seeing the end product as well. for me its not that one color is too much or whatever its more that the colors have no spectral relation to each other. the red is hot the green is hot the yellow is well ok. I would have left the red out. the yellow and green go well especially if the yellow is just accent. the red just throws a elephant into the room. the work is amazing though.

useless signature line where i cant mention my sponsors

"First Bagged BL5!"

I will have to get a better camera too. You cant see the true colors. These are all 2 and 3 stage powder coats. Major "mirror" effect. Basically we powder coated over chrome to get the desired effect.

Ever try a true wire tuck on an LGT (or any Subie). Basically impossible. Not if you want to keep all the electronics working properly. Easier in a race car than a street car.

The red will be offset by the black (and mostly hidden). The green and yellow actually go fairly well together. The green yellow and black together really pops.

More pix to follow. Just need more time. 3 projects at once. Rebuilding LALGT's car (again, going much bigger this time). He too is getting lots of color.

One more time, Lol. Most of the wiring harness will be hidden in the end. Look at your own motor and note how much is behind a cover, under the manifold or just out of sight. I know it is a visual thing, but you have to look past what is there now and try to see the final result. Hard to do, since it is only in my head. Lol. The harness is haphazardly thrown in the bay right now. Almost nothing is connected except the bulk head connector. By the end of the week it will look entirely different. Trust me. Lol.

I haven't but I'm not building a show car. Difficult is good, and it shows when it's the only one out there. A true tuck doesn't need to be done but extending factory wiring and moving some things around would clean up the bay ALOT. Covering it in yellow wire looms just looks 'cheap' to me.

Either way the Powdercoat looks great and I'll continue to hold my final judgement until it's completely finished.

Some more pix from today. Engine bay is going together now. Not just mocking up. Manifold is mounted. Inlet tube is mounted. Turbo back is mounted. Tires going on Friday (plan).

Too dark to get good pix of the satin black exhaust this evening. Headers all the way to the tips. Including the tubo, heatshield braket and OEM heat shield (Cobb over that).

Lots still to do. But, it is coming together. Once the FMIC piping is in it will be a lot more coolant green under the hood.

Naylor, I saved Hello Kitty!!! Just for you.

Considering all the boners over the Whosaywhatsit Wagon, I'd expect people to trust you a little. I've taken enough art classes to refrain from expressing and negative opinion till I see a completed work other than that your work is immaculate as always. I like the yellow and green.

I was suprised when I saw something other than blue in my engine bay but I very specifically said to you "Hey, since its going to take some time to get my coilovers rebuilt lets go ahead and powercoat some stuff. Do whatever, just not my stock brakes. Suprise me (and try to keep the pc price under a grand:lol:)." The truth is, any time I have came to you with an idea and you asked if you could run with it, what I have gotten back has been beyond what I imagined. I wish I had a much bigger budget for suprises.

Can't wait to see Naylors car in person.

EDIT: Toss a cover over mine. I don't want to spoil the suprise for me:lol:.

I dig the brakes. And the greeen accents. Hopefully all the yellow hosing will get subdued, but you say it will so I'm excited to see how it turns out!

I've always loved this wagon, over all these years and owners. Top notch looks and performance each time.

great choice on wheel re-finishing.

No pix today. Sorry. I got all the electronics mounted under the hood. All the vacuum lines run. New (more level) custom mounts for the alt cover (long story, it is a used part). Rear brakes mounted up. Intake mounted, half the intercooler pipes mounted. Fuel lines installed. Yokohama Sdrive 255/30/19 purchased and scheduled for mounting tomorrow. Naylor is going WIDE. I am diggin the neo-chrome lug nuts too.

Max, we might have to change your cars nickname. After this round, I dont think "General Lee" fits anymore. I am thinkin... "Spiderpig". Spiderpig, spiderpig does whatever a spider pig... does.
