Paul,

I love you ;)

Second, what size turbo is that ?

Third, what tuning method?

Fourth, what psi?

Fif, what beer are you going to drink? I suggest Molson XXX:lol:

Sixth, did you tap the passenger head the same as the RS guys?

Seventh, is the stock oil sump enough for the turbo ???

Just a morning update - we are still working along. Getting the small details sorted on the turbo. It's in line with the question about DD, in that we want to make sure the kit and the car is ready for about 5 days of non-stop driving.

In regards to a DD, it'll be just as capable as a regular turbo model. The turbocharger is oil and water cooled. The oil line comes in off the top of the motor from where the oil temp sensor was (there is an adapter supplied for that), and then the oil drain's into the oil pan. It's tapping and threading the hole in the oil pan that takes up a good amount of the instructions, that's something that will require the right tools and preparation. The actual tapping/threading took about 30 minutes.

I'm more than certain the 4EAT can handle the load - it's the same 4speed box design that's been used by Subaru for the turbo WRX's and Foresters in the past. In some ways it's a more robust design than the 5EAT.

The Outback bumper is actually a lot easier to fit with a FMIC than the Legacy bumper. The fog lights are spaced out further, which means you can skip trimming their housings, and the air inlet at the bottom is placed a bit lower (in relation to the frame). So we only needed to really trim some of the side of that area, the bottom still goes all the way in and under the FMIC nice and snug.

We were working on some preliminary tunes last night, and some time today we'll get them into the car and get some seat time, hopefully. Have to start packing for subiefest...

Want/need more info!! I hope I can add this to my 3.0r which would be awesome. Def can wait for updates.

If your header is in the same location and has the same shape as the 2.5i, then maybe. However, your engine is bigger - there probably isn't any room for the turbo where it is on the 2.5i.

Late night pre-beer update:

Long day, and not because of install. Everything was basically done by noon today, but one of the fittings for the turbocharger wasn't there. Woah. And it was the oil fitting to the turbocharger, just a bit of a important part. Well, the good ol' US of A isn't really hot on metric sizing, especially not oddball metric sizing. I called, and went to, every corner of this town trying to find something.

Well, we finally got something close enough, close enough that with a propane torch, duct tape, and spit, we got it working. We've been around the block a few times now, and have hit 4psi boost on a base map that we created out of thin air, zen, and beer. Nothing like having boost, torque, boost, and torque. And torque. Response is actually very good.

But we've got about 1400 miles of road trip to the Mojave desert to go, tuning all the way. By the time we get there, it's going to be spot on!

Any more info on how much of the bumper beam would need to be cut for installation?
