Got the Y-pipe today. The customer service has been great w/Mike @ Bosal, despite these minor difficulties. I imagine there's just a few of these systems left at this point.

Bought rallitek hangers & OEM gaskets, should install fairly soon.

Installed the CBE this evening. Used Rallitek hangers and new OEM gaskets between the y/mufflers and the donut gasket. Wasn't bad at all, just a couple minor hang-ups. Managed to snap both of the spring bolts when taking off the stock catback, damn rusty bitches :spin:. This required a quick trip to the store to find some bolts, washers, and nuts that would work well with the springs. Ended up installing the Bosal during a thunderstorm and in the dark. Great fun

In addition to the shipping issues getting it here, there were a few small dings on the mufflers but also one huge dent in it that all must have also happened during shipping (picture later). Luckily it's on the top of the can and isn't visible once installed. Their shipping/packing people could learn a few things, but their customer service has been top notch.

Fitment was OK. Everything bolts up fine, but unfortunately my tips are not even. The left one sits lower and angles downward slightly and the right one is tucked up higher and angles up . I'm gonna try to tweak the hangers a bit to get them more even. Also will keep an eye on my makeshift spring bolts (OEM springs and grade 8 bolts/hardware from tractor supply) at the mid/DP connection. Did not feel any leaks coming from there but the flanges are also definitely not flush right there (and the springs are fully compressed).

Like someone else mentioned, the Rallitek 19mm RSB has just about an inch of clearance to the y-pipe on the drivers side. Also, like others have said, attach the y to the mid before bolting on the midpipe. Tight clearance on one side, could not get a socket on it.

Has anyone else noticed a bird chirp noise with the exhaust? Out of my left muffler only, I hear a high pitched noise that I can only describe as birds chirping. Mostly hear it at idle.

Other than the bird chirp, it sounds great! I am running a full aftermarket exhaust now which consists of: GrimmSpeed PnP exh. manifold & crossover-> GrimmSpeed UP-> Cobb HFC DP-> Bosal 1.5 CBE. Other related mods are an AVO TMIC, AEM CAI, and an AP tune by Infamous1.

Was worried about rasp and volume, but it's not raspy at all and not all that loud. I stood outside while a friend drove by a couple times, and it actually seems louder in cabin than it does outside the car. Just an aggressive deep tone. Did notice a little bit of drone at some speeds.

Overall, for $400 delivered, I am happy. People should grab these while they still can. Sounds great, just need to mess with the tip orientation a bit and figure out what's causing that damn bid chirp. Pics coming later.

Ok here's the pics. Took the before and during yesterday evening before it got too dark/rainy to take anymore. Snapped a few "after" shots today:

Everything laid out:

Huge dent on passenger side can from shipping:

Tiny bit of clearance between Rallitek RSB and the exhaust on the driver's side:

under the car:

A look at how crooked the tips sit on my car. Notice how the driver's side tip sits lower and hangs down where as the passenger side is angled up and practically touches the bumper plastic.

Looked through this thread and couldn't find any other pics of this exhaust installed on the 05-07 bumper, anyone else have this issue?

Any pointers on adjusting the tips without taking it to a muffler shop? Was thinking about putting clamps on the driver's side hangers and seeing if I can't tuck the tip up like it is on the other side. Or mixing and matching the factory and Rallitek hangers until they hang even on both sides.

I have heard that it helps to start in the back (with the bolts) and work your way to the front of the car, as far as aligning the mufflers.

Your tips are not that far off; I have seen worse.

Will this exhaust bolt up to a flat-flange 3" downpipe? i.e. does the mid-pipe flange have a flat on it where you could compress a flat 3" washer? It sucks that it was designed to mate to the stock DP with stock gasket.

I dunno, to me the tips look like shit with how they sit right now. Not a fan of mismatched looking exhaust. The custom magnaflow cans I just sold sat perfectly even and tucked up beautifully, so compared to that, this looks awful.

I would think it could bolt up to a 3" DP just fine. It would still taper inside the pipe briefly, but both flanges on the midpipe measure 3". 2.25" at the y/muffler connections.

Took a quick sound clip earlier. Just start up and a few quick revs:

Still have the bird chirp noise coming out of the left muffler. Not sure if you can hear it well or not in the clip, need to listen to it on something other than my laptop speakers. I've felt around and there are no holes at the welds or anything, so I'm guessing its something to do with the baffles (possibly loose?).

Another issue I've noticed is that the exhaust hits the undercarriage going over bumps. I haven't pinpointed it yet, but fairly sure its either the left muffler hitting the heatshield above it, or the right tip hitting the bumper. Anyone else installed this on an 05-07 have any of these issues?

I guess I will undo the mufflers from the y-pipe and try with the stock hangers instead of the Ralliteks. Hopefully then they will hang evenly and not contact the underside of the car over bumps.

My magnaflow rattles bad on my heat shield under deceleration I'm about to remove it lol

On another note anyone from the bolingbrook/naperville area buy one of these?

I saw a 09 with black mesh wheels and this exhaust ride by my work today. Looked great

That was probally me as I live off of Weber Rd in Bolingbrook. Put my Bosal on a few weeks ago and no complaints so far. Installed with the Rallitek hangers and no fitment issues. This has to be one of the quietest systems on the market for the LGT. I'm sure it will open up a bit more when I decide to intall my downpipe but right now it's quieter than the Hougzast mod I did previously.

  • 2 weeks later...
I read somewhere where some people have been able to bolt their 2.5" CBE to a 3" Downpipe (like the ERZ) without an adapter. Something about just smashing the gasket between the 2 pipes and it seems to work fine. Has anyone had success doing this?
